What about Cam will revolutionize the game?

I think people are overstating everything in an attempt to reiterate their concern of having a pass 1st QB, an injury free QB, etc, etc..

obviously if he runs, it doesn't mean he can't throw.. it also doesn't mean he'll get injured easily.

A fact that seems to be overlooked is that Cameron is bigger than almost everyone he plays with. The D-line are basically the only guys bigger than him. Which means that once he clears the line, he is the biggest guy left on the field. I do realize that there are a few LBs that big, but as a whole Cameron has to like his chances.

That said, I would prefer he look to pass first, run second except for the occassional QB draw. Hang around the pocket as long as possible, then do what comes naturally.

Just a thought. And GOOOO PANTHERS!

yeah, I got no problem w/ Cam taking on guys out in the open as he can limit the angle/hits....there are certain locations on the field where he has to go down and some where he can stay on his feet.

I mean he can't run into the middle of the field giving an entire D open shots but he can still take on guys...dude is a beast.

I get what you are saying. IMO, he will have to learn to temper his competitiveness. Like you said, sometimes you just have to go down. It is nothing against your manhood. Unless he starts falling down to avoid contact. (re. Jimmy)

I have this nagging feeling that Cameron just knows how to play. That he seems to know what he is going to do in any situation. But I agree that he has to hone every skill to excel, not just to run nilly willy. Our offense will prosper best when he can be effective in the passing game as well as the occasional run/scramble.

It is absolutely imperitive that Cameron develop a pocket presense. It will force defenses to plan for an entire playbook, not just stop the run and force us to throw. I know it was college, but he seemed to extend passing plays as long as he could. He would shuffle around in the pocket, maybe scramble a little. Just buying time. Then he would take off. I do not care how he does it, he just seems to get it done. I really think that he knows he is bigger and stronger than almost anyone, it is what gives him his swag.

Ok, that is it for now, and GOOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!

... Because we all hope that our Franchise QB becomes elite.

my concern with cam running a ton is that he has played 2 complete college football seasons and has ended up banged up pretty damn bad in each of them (and in one, he was injured so bad he couldn't even throw the ball). at the same time, he didn't miss actual time so he's pretty durable... but the guys in the NFL hit much harder, so I do hope he is able to figure out when is best to fight for extra yards and when it is best to slide.

He threw the ball plenty in the second half of the JC national championship game. That coach was being hyperbolic when he said that. :cuss: :wink5:

I think him getting lit up one time will be enough for him to think "Holy poo I need to slide". By the end of last year he was doing a better job of getting down if there were no more yards to be had and I imagine he will continue to do so in the NFL.

I do not know anything about his JC days, but I watched almost every Auburn game and I do not remember him getting hurt much if at all. Ain't sure where that comes from. But then again, I am not the sharpest tool in the drawer, so I guess I could have missed something.

I do however agree that there are definite times when a QB needs to know when the ground is his best friend.

And GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plenty of QBs that have been great runners have had nice long careers. Randall Cunningham played @16 seasons and he is tiny compared to Newton.

If Cam can play as well as Cunningham and win championships, I don't care if Newton changes the game or not. That honor will always be Vicks, especially now since it seems Vick is a better passer.

I'm sure Rivera and Hurney will give an ear full if he tries to bite off more than he can chew while scrambling. He won't need to hear it from us that's for sure.

outside of Stewart....I think Cam will give us the 2nd most moments of the madden truck stick being applied.

yeah he threw the ball, he was just pretty ineffective with it compared to how he had been all season. they actually took him out of the game because of the injury (it was to his throwing shoulder if I recall) but his coach put him back in. if you'd prefer that to read "couldn't throw the ball effectively," I'll edit it for you :P

fact remains we both agree that he's gonna need to get down in the NFL, and I hope you are right that he will... cam will never be afraid of hits, but hopefully he'll realize he has to make his body last for a long time if he's gonna be the player this team counts on for years to come.

Oregon beat him up pretty good, and you could see him wincing in pain. He took a bad hit to his back and I was surprised he got up for it.

I was NOT saying he isn't tough. Quite the opposite, he's extremely tough and WILL play hurt, I just want him to avoid getting hurt is all.

Just wanna throw this out there, being bigger than CB and S doesn't make he will break the tackle. Doubt they are gonna be going head up with him. Small guys are taught to tackle by taking out your legs. Doesn't matter how big you are, can't run when someone takes your legs out from under you.
