The Broncos are actively shopping Jay Cutler

What's your solution for next season when Jake retires or signs elsewhere? Would you rather roll the dice on a rookie quarterback or would you rather have Jay Cutler?

I think you're missing just how good Cutler is. We're not talking about trading Peppers for Cassel. Cutler is much better than Matt Cassel. Cutler is one of the 5 best quarterbacks in the league and he's only 25.

Knowing how good Cutler is, don't you think it's kind of, I don't know...insane for them to even be considering trade offers? Something is not right here. Nobody trades away their franchise QB for no reason.

New administration in Denver. Maybe he really smarted off to them and they already can't stand each other, who knows?

I have a feeling that this was just a one-time offer type thing. Why? Because didn't their new coach (McDaniels IIRC) just come from being the OC with New England? Well, it appears whoever is running things with NE is offering a fire sale of their players to former coaches and GMs.

McDaniels coached Cassel this season and he wanted to bring in the guy he was familiar with. He wanted to work with what he knew and not have to adjust to Cutler. So, I don't see him being offered anywhere else, despite what the rumor says. I think they're done offering him.

thank you! thats what ive been saying, thats why the chiefs didnt have to give anything to the pats then a 2nd rounder, and woulda been nice to the broncos to since of McDaniels, but i just dont see anything happening now, cuz then what would the broncos do with their quarterback situation?

We luvz jake delhomme 4ever!!!!

I actually think that Fox/Hurney see him as a starter (probably for us) well into his upper 30's as long as he continues to win games. And if you really think about last season, he only had two horrible games and two somewhat subpar games. Knowing the way Fox thinks, that makes Jake's record 13-4 which I'm sure, in his mind, is more than enough reason to keep him.

Yes it is my opinion but I am serious about it.

If I had to guess what happened.... Bucs and Lions started contacting the Broncos about Cutler out of no where. It got Denver's FO excited about what they could get out of him. Now that the deal didn't go through, their ears are open.

I doubt Denver really wants to get rid of Cutler but if they get the right offer, I'm sure anyone would do it.

IF Cutler comes to the Panthers, it'll be a one-sided trade where the Broncos come out way ahead. I'm not sure I would want that.

He had more bad games thern that our running game just bailed him out.

you tell me your solution for rebuilding the defense.

i don't care about getting a high octane offense if we don't have a worthless defense.

would you be happy with a team like the broncos or the saints?

i want a team that is solid on both sides of the ball. doing a trade like peppers for cutler or peppers, lucas, and jake for cutler and a 2nd and crap like that is what i am talking about.

We'll see soon enough, if they think he's the long term answer he'll be extended before the draft.

Yeah, I think the only reason Cutler was offered up was because they would've been getting McDaniels' prodigy in his place. So I think now Cutler is staying put, unless they have an opportunity to take Sanchez or Freeman maybe.

Bottom line - It's not gonna happen for us.

all that needs to be said.

that was the only trade that would have seriously been considered.

    • He has a lot to work on for sure but he has been a huge boost to the offense. It's nice to finally have an elite WR.
    • We have been on that roller coaster ride already. He needs to have streaks far longer than a couple of good games.  People raved about the Green Bay game in 2023. Which was mostly a good 2nd half and hot 4th quarter.  Ask me what happened the next four games, if you don’t remember. or just go look them up. There isn’t much to see.  The end of last year had some good things and one excellent outing, and look up what followed that, which you won’t have to but he came out this year looking like week 1 2023.  Now he is on a game and a half streak, against a bad Miami team and lowest rated defense in the league - at home.  This is the reality in the big picture. He needs to break his pattern, in a positive way.
    • This "noodle arm" characterization just baffles me. There's way more involved in a successful downfield passing attack than simple air yards. Let's take two stat-lines for throws of 40+ air yards (no YAC) from the last 3 seasons: 5/29 (17%) for 3 TDs and 2 INTs 1/9 (11%) for 1 TD So with three times the number of attempts, you net +6% completion percentage, the same TD rate, and 2 arm punt INTs to boot. The first player is Mahomes, the second is Bryce. Clearly Bryce attempts these throws at a much lower rate, but his success rate is quite similar to one of the most talented downfield throwers of all time. The takeaway isn't that Bryce is Mahomes-lite (if he was his usage rate for these would be much higher) but that these throws by their very nature are extremely difficult, very scheme-specific, and even an elite thrower can have wildly differing success rates season by season. And before we get into the complaints of cherry-picking, this is far more substantial information than the various insinuations that Bryce struggles to even get the ball 20 yards downfield, much less 40+. And the wildest part of this is that every time Mahomes threw a bomb over the last 3 season, 83% of the time the end result was failure, yet many Chiefs fans complain that he isn't taking even more shots downfield.
