How they hell did Steve Williams (Tiger's caddie) get fired on his day off??

Thus is really the end of an era now...

I sure as hell hope Tiger knows what he's doing...

This will be interesting going forward... New swing, new mental state, and now new Caddie....

"Well, I think when you're great friends with somebody and a situation like this occurs, you obviously lose some kind of respect," Williams told CNN affiliate Mediaworks.

Williams was unhappy to have been dropped by Woods and felt the decision was scant reward for his loyal service.

"I've stuck by him through and through," Williams told 3 News. "Now he decides things aren't going well for him, and I'm down the road, so the timing's very disappointing."

He suggested that Woods would need to work hard to rebuild their friendship.

Williams first acknowledged the split on his website and announced he will become the full-time caddie for Australian Adam Scott, whose bag he carried at the US Open.

"Following the completion of the AT&T National, I am no longer caddying for Tiger after he informed me that he needed to make a change," the statement read.

Williams added, "After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger's scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time."

Yeah, I'd say successful. $90m in 13 years.

Reading between the lines, apparently Steve's wife and Tiger's ex-wife are really good friends. I can see how that would be awkward and it isn't always easy to separate work and play. Anyone that is close with another couple and they later divorce can understand. You always try and not take sides, but there are always awkward situations and you can't have that in a sport like golf that is so mental.

I am sure the media will blow it out of proportion, but according the the reports, Williams and Tiger met two weeks earlier and agreed to keep it quiet until after the British Open. They didn't want the circus to be a distraction for Adam Scott.

Reading between the lines, apparently Steve's wife and Tiger's ex-wife are really good friends. I can see how that would be awkward and it isn't always easy to separate work and play. Anyone that is close with another couple and they later divorce can understand. You always try and not take sides, but there are always awkward situations and you can't have that in a sport like golf that is so mental.

This makes most sense.

There is no one in this world that Tiger truly cares for but Tiger. He's a complete narcissist and this didn't surprise me at all. Probably a good thing for Steve, now at least he'll have a chance to earn some money.

Makes the only sense in my opinion. No doubt Tiger and Steve are great friends. Imagine if you are Steve and your boss was the one that destroyed the life of your wife's good friend. How do you show up on Monday to carry Tiger's bag after hanging out with his ex-wife the previous weekend. Do you quit being friends with the ex-wife because your boss ruined her life? Steve would proably have chosen that option, but I can promise you his wife is on the other side. Regardless, makes for a very very stickey situation and I don't blame Tiger for wanting to dissassociate from that. People that are married or have been married will completely understand.

I think the reason Tiger didn't do this 18 months ago is because he is tight with Steve and tried to work through it. It is a business and Tiger made a decision that is best for him. I don't see it as selfish at all. Probably necessary at this point. If Tiger associates Steve with his ex-wife that is not a good thing.

This is simply what happens when you mix business and pleasure. Anyone that has married friends that get divorced can totally relate. Now add the fact that your friend is also your boss. I can't imagine a more awkward situation. It sucks, but it is what it is.

      Yep, the Panthers powers that be seem desperate to convince themselves he can clear the bare minimum bar of demanding a legit franchise QB contract. Canales seems to be laying the groundwork here of building the case that all of Bryce's shortcomings are still there and even more glaring than you may have thought while his strengths aren't nearly as strong as you had hoped and aren't near enough to make up for the lack of pure physical tools. When you have historically anomalous lack of measurables you need historically anomalous positive intangibles to make up for it. That was always issue with Bryce as a prospect. Like Parcells said when evaluating him, "he better walk on water".

      I'm honestly not sure how much "west coast" plays into it. There's a huge difference between Tucson, AZ and Spokane, WA where he spent the previous two decades of his career. Chapel Hill is significantly different than Spokane but way more similar to it than Tucson. You're talking about a pretty significant plane ride to get back home either way. He and his family would be flying private and direct so we're talking about a 3ish hour flight vs. a 5ish hour flight. That's basically a wash. It's not like he went from Gonzaga to another PNW program. Tucson is a dramatic departure from Washington state. Honestly a far bigger departure climatically and scenery wise than Chapel Hill would be.
