Jeff King signed with Arizona Cardinals

Jeff King was essentially the second coming of Kris Mangum.

(heck, Mangum might have had more receptions; I haven't looked)

Nice guy and all, but I've long wanted us to get a dual-threat TE. Glad we finally got a coach that agrees.

Completely agreed. I've always respected him and appreciated him as a player on our team, and he was the consummate professional, as cliche as that is...

But, I could never really appreciate him fully because I couldn't get around his glaring weaknesses.

Rosario is the most inconsistent te.

All king did was block his ass off and catch everything thrown his way.

Yet king is over rated, and rosario is under rated.

King was also signed before resario.

Gawd I love our fans.

King could not have maid that play in San Diego (mainly because I don't think he could have gotten that high off the ground to go up and make that catch). King is a solid tight end, but the Panthers are looking for athletic tight end's that can do more than just catch and block, they want someone who can actually make something happen after the catch if need be. King was a solid player for us, but not a difference maker. With Shockey and Barnidge here, there is no reason to keep King anymore or get upset with the fact that he is no longer here.

You obviously, can't read.

Where did I say I was upset?

Don't bother answering, cause I didn't.

Where did I talk about a play in san diago?

Once again, I didn't.

It doesn't bother me that the panthers are getting back do a faster tight end. One that can make more plays down field. In fact, I embrace it!!

I just love how fans like you continue to under value king, while over rating rosario. It's some rich poo.

Go back to talking to yourself now.

Let's see, now we get an old Jeremy Shockey to become our "difference maker" at tight end. I understand he is good and is somewhat athletic, but I think Barnidge should have been the "guy" to solidify the tight end position this year.

We're supposed to be a younger team, right?

Barnidge really should get a legitimate shot this year, if he doesn't, then he is probably gone the following year.

    • Yes, more recently. The way duke fans act you'd think they'd won five of the last ten or something crazy when they've actually won zero if the last ten. They haven't even even played in a championship ship game in the last decade. Carolina has played in three. For all the elite NBA talent that has come through Durham, duke is in a woeful championship drought. Duke fans used to talk all kinds of poo about how Carolina failed to win titles with Stackhouse/Wallace and Carter/Jamison and honestly they had a point. We should've gotten a title or two out of those teams. But man, duke's current run of elite talent with no titles puts that to shame.
    • LOL, what? No one has said anything close to that.
    • In response to mailbag questions about drafting a center from Observer, Zietlow gives this infO  From Alex The Panthers, after all, aren’t going to be as stacked with interior offensive linemen who can be converted into centers as they were last year. Cade Mays is already gone to Detroit. Austin Corbett moved on to Buffalo. Brady Christensen might still come back, but his future is murky too … and he ruptured his Achilles five months ago.   Keylan Rutledge. The guard out of Georgia Tech has received high marks in the pre-draft process, and if he drops to the Panthers at No. 51 somehow, they should take him. He worked at guard and center during the 2026 Senior Bowl.   Jake Slaughter. The 6-foot-5, 303-pound center out of Florida really impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, notably with a 5.1-second 40-yard dash time. He’s a center by trade, and coach Dave Canales likes athletic centers who can get to the second level of the defense. Slaughter is projected to be a third- or fourth-round pick.   Billy Schrauth. Another draft, another Notre Dame draft pick?At least, it’s possible with Schrauth, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound interior offensive lineman and team captain. He spent most of his college career at guard, but reports indicate a transition to center would be easy for him. He’s projected to be a Day 3 pick.
