I just don't get why anyone would worry about money thats not even theres. When watching a movie do you guys worry about how much the actor got payed or how well he performed. Lets just be happy were talking about football and not the cba.

time for my "O" face

Spending too much doesn't allow us to improve in areas that we were lacking in last year. I am sure you would be angry if we gave 1 player 25% of our salary cap in a given year because then we would have no way to compete at other positions.

I am not saying that we would ever do that, and personally I agree with the push we made to sign dwill and cj, but as the worst team in the league last year we defiantly need improvements in other areas, and just signing our own players won't help that.

Have you seen CJ and dwill's contract? im gonna guess no. The collective knowledge of this boards experience on the salary cap is derived from madden and EA's head coach.

I have complete faith in the teams salary cap management.

Do you not get it??? I am not against the signings.... but it is very true that the cap is more important than ever before!

Why????

Because for the next 10 years all teams will have a hard salary floor, and a hard salary cap. Meaning that each team's player payroll will be almost the same. So the team that best manages that cap will have a leg up on other teams....

It's like all teams have a allowance that is the same and they all must spend it... One team can go overpay and spend most of his allowance on one player, and not be left with enough to be competitive. Another team might bargain hunt and spend money on a bunch of bargain players, and they won't have enough talent to be a contender...

The winners are going to be the one's who finds good bargains, manage the cap well, and knows when to over spend and not over spend on players.

So to not think about the cap is a irresponsible way of thinking.

That's true but unless or until we know the structure of the deals we're just making a lot of assumptions. None of them are likely to be straight up amount of money/years.

I haven't seen the contract, and I am sure you haven't either. But what worries me is the fact that we haven't addressed any of our needs besides a no frills run stopping dt. I don't think we are done in FA at all and we didn't go way way overboard in what we paid.

Talk to me again when I see an upgrade on our roster to the lack of depth at CB and WR and when we bring in a veteran QB to help out the stable of rookie/1st year QBs on our roster.

The salary cap is an important part of football. That's why it's a common topic in football forums. If you don't want to talk about it then don't start a thread saying we shouldn't worry about it, we as fans worry about the decisions our teams make, whether we are right or wrong, informed or uninformed. We discuss cap and player management. It's a part of being a fan. Get over yourself BatKid.

No! you don't get it. Your not the GM your a fan, I could understand if you were in the meetings but your not. Our job as fans is to watch the games eat the hotdogs and cheer for our favorite team which is the carolina panthers.

It's not worrying about how much money this or that guy is making cause thats not our decision to make no matter how much you wanna debate about it.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
