Kasay is way better than Mare. Very bad move. Don't like this one at all and don't understand it.

I think Mare has been more accurate over the last three years, and can handle kickoffs... His career has been nowhere near Kasay but the last three years he has been a great kicker.

This is where I am at.

If we had actually upgraded the position I would have been fine...But this...this is....frustrating..to say the least.

the team picked him up because they felt he was an upgrade... if you want a single kicker to handle kick offs and fgs, he is.

If Mare can be the kick off and field goal kicker, then it's a good move. I have never fully forgiven Kasey for kicking the ball out of bounds and handing New England the ball on the 40....I was sitting in the endzone when Adam Vinateri crushed my heart.

He did hit a longer field goal than Mare last year. He was also slightly more accurate, but Mare went on a tear in the second half of that year and also has been more accurate over the last 3 years, hitting 91.25% of his field goals (compared to 86.2% if my math was right), and while Kasay had a 55 yarder last year, Mare had a 51 yarder, so it's not like he can't kick the long FGs.

A K that cannot do KO is not worth a roster spot.

Willing to bet Hurney asked him if he wanted to retire or be cut, kasay chose cut.

God, this is twice I've 100% agreed with Zod today. WTF is going on here?

Damn I was thinking the exact same thing... I even agreed with him on two posts in the same thread.

I think the FO probably gave Kasay a choice, but it was time to make that move... sad to see him go, but it is time.

i think its crap.. all of those of you who loved Jake "cause he took us to the superbowl" etc.. should remember how many games we wont because of Kasey.. Kasey won more games for the Panthers then anyone i bet.. he was/is the highest single scorer in Panther history.. why not have him stay and train the 'New' Kicker...

      I think that Cam rubbed some refs the wrong way, but I had forgotten this stuff. Should not matter.  I remember being furious with Rivera. I personally think Rivera was the most overrated coach in Panther history--he had Cam, weapons, a great defense--and never had back-to-back winning seasons.  As a Coordinator in San Diego with Norv Turner (I believe) I recall a season when they were #1 on D and #1 on Offense and still struggled to make the playoffs.

      For those with a classic 22" or 26" Weber Kettle, go and get yourselves two things: a) the VORTEX. It's basically a piece of heavy-duty sheet metal formed into a volcano/cone shape.
