Anyone see Steve Reed's article about TC?

I lost a lot of respect for Reed in that article. Stop whining like you're some bitch and give us some real fuging information. It will mean less injuries so shut your mouth. Football games are not won by smashing heads in practice.

My how times have changed? Yea, would you like to go back to the times where half the players in the league had concussions but didn't receive treatment? Now those guys are mentally disabled for the rest of their lives. Why don't you go talk to them about hitting in practice sir.

You're a writer. There is no danger in writing. You get payed to voice your opinion. You can work as a writer until you're 80. So don't tell players who are putting their bodies at risk that they have it easy.

What a piece of sh*t article.

And post more interviews. Why the **** is John Fox last game conference still up

Step it up

I think the contact you have in training camp prepares you for the more intense contact you have during the season.

Okay, I have to ask. Have you ever been a high-level professional athlete? When I say high-level, I'm not talking about a season or two of semi-pro football with the Dumptruck County Dirt Daubers.

Or, are you perhaps an experienced orthopedic doctor, sport trainer, or physiotherapist?

I'm assuming not.

That said, what the hell do you know about it?

I'm not saying this for the express purpose of being a jerk, but your speculation on this topic is based purely on... well... nothing.

Thus, it's virtually irrelevant.

And that goes for the lot of you in this thread talking about these guys being pussies, sissies, or whatever you want to call them.

Most of the guys in the NFL will crap bigger than you when they're 70 years old and have the flu.

The only thing I worry about is tackling. You really need to practice tackling to stay sharp at it, and without full contact you can't practice. Would not shock me to see a huge drop in tackling proficiency this year across the league.

Other than that, I don't blame them for wanting to lengthen their careers.

We have Williams, Stewart, and Smith. This would only help us.

I'll bet if they called it the Korey Stringer rules, nobody would complain.

The NFL is making this move to try to stem some of the heat they have been getting about the kinds of injuries retired football players have, esp. the ones with memory loss or dementia. All this concussion science is coming into view, any hit to the league's public image may take a toll of the NFL's bottom line in the future. They have agreed in negotiations to change the training conditions so that players' careers can be extended and so the owners can sell more tickets because their star athletes are still on the field.

It seems like a win/win and a smart move when you consider the moral sketchiness of paying a man 10 million dollars for the priviledge of grinding his body and brain into pulp.

As long as every team has to follow the same rules, I think its a fair option and something that needed to happen in this CBA.

Will it affect game quality? I think about all the players who have flashed and made great plays in training camp only to get hurt or get cut after a few weeks. Maybe some of those really spectacular training camp and preseason plays will happen during the regular season instead. I think it has just as much potential to raise the quality of play, esp. in weeks 1-4 where teams are sluggish (quite often the Panthers whose training camp is held 5 miles from the gates of hell) coming out of gruelling camps.
