We need a corner,

Asante is 30 so i would not want to give up more then a 4th for him. a 2e is just to much for a aging CB.

but looking at there rooster they have Chaney, Jamar at MLB. only one listed. he had 43 tackles.. i might have missed that they picked up a MLB somewhere?

but dan conner and a 4th for asante, then give him a 3 year new deal??

eagles get something for a CB that will not take a backseat to DRC and a starting MLB.

we are going to lose dan next year anyways.

what yall think?

Honestly, ability-wise I like Gamble/Munnerlyn/Burney, but size becomes a big issue after Gamble. Even if you have Gamble follow the big WR's around the other team is going to do their best to see that Captain/Burney get matched up on the taller WR's.

Not any options left in FA other than Randall Gay & Kelvin Hayden. I still think we'll end up trading for someone who hasn't been mentioned.

There's no way we move Martin to cb, he is about to become a outstanding safety for us, perhaps the best we ever had. To me, moving him to corner would be like moving Beason to OLB. Sure they can play that position, and even play it well, but their probowl position is the current spot they are in. Our best option would be to trade for a corner, or we could try some of our other safeties at corner. (Marcus Hudson perhaps, is he still on the team?)

This is my theory.

Rivera and Hurney know we are going to be much improved, but still far from competing for a championship. So they are wanting to remain as flexible as possible at positions that we can get stronger through the draft next season. This would also explain our lack of interest in FA WR's. Also, it will give them another season to evaluate our current group of young receivers. We are not going to know what we have if they are not on the field.

A corner is going to be signed, but not for big dollars.

I do find it interesting that Rogers signed a 1-year deal with the niners, I would have thought a contender would have offered that.
