Lee Evans

I am not sure we need to go outside the organization to replace Gettis. Just last week we brought in Naanee because nobody had stepped up at the #2. Frankly, Naanee seems to be a steal to me; I think he will do better away from the WRs in SD.

Lafell needs to catch the damn ball. But Armanti and Pilares are having impressive camps. I see a dropoff in the deep threat opposite Smith, but do not forget we have a TE who is a deep threat. Naanee has better hands than Gettis and Lafell, gets better body position, and is a better blocker (than Gettis). Not too much of a drop off in talent, just a different skill set.

Save your draft picks, Hurney. If you make a trade, do it for a CB.

Before we call Armanti and Pilares anything other than flashing at camp (we have seen guys look good in TC and then nothing in real games for many seasons now) we need to see them actually play in games.

Remember Chud's system... play action passes and deep balls. A deep option is a must even for Jimmy in this system. Jimmy is going to have to learn to throw the deep ball or its over for him as long as Chud is here.

It was over the second they drafted Cam.

if this is true, then it's just more fuel to the fire that they're going to start cam week 1.

You don't go out to replace your only real straight line burner if you're going to start Jimmy Clausen.

Deep 1 routes are relatively safe (throw it where only the receiver can grab it) and Cam has the strongest arm on the team.

Wow. Taking an unrelated point (replacing an injured WR with another WR of similar skills) and trying to make a direct correlation (ahh this must mean that Cam is starting).

If (and that is a big if) we get Evans, it makes Cam starting week 1 no more likely than before Gettis' injury. Replacing one fast WR with another.

That injured wide receiver offered something that no other WR on the team offers.

That injured wide receiver offered a very specific, very safe, very rookie friendly route that Cam should eventually excel at.

If you don't care about that 1 route, you don't immediately try to replace it.

The Panthers have hand crafted the entire starting offense to cater to Cam's youth and strengths. Going after Lee is what you'd expect to happen after losing their only burner.

I do see your point.

However, I don't think the correlation between the two is quite as strong as you do. But hey....I have been known to be wrong (quite often).

Are you kidding me? Everette Brown and a 5th? You can get a better WR in the 7th round alone... there are better undrafted options on the market. Armanti is a better option than Lee Evens.

Based on what?? Armanti has improved greatly over the offseason but he hasnt shown anything on the field. Game vs Training Camp are two different stories

stop using correlates, you're not using it correctly. I'm speaking about direct actions, not data. it might not be technically wrong but you sound like a pedantic ***.

and of course you're wrong, you're arguing with me.

    • He's not wrong though. You talk like a politician on here. Leaving yourself just enough wiggle room to say you never fully counted Bryce out if you need to....But we can all see it. Just say you think he is a bust outright and you will have to type a lot less. Obfuscating your opinion behind QB3 competitions etc....
    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
