Two guys that had a great game, that no one has yet to mention

Tony Fiammetta & Mackenzy Bernadeau

I've been pretty hard on these guys in the past, and after going back and watching the game, I notice they both had a great game.

Tony was excellent in his blitz pick ups, and sealed off his man perfectly on a couple of running plays.

Bernadeau showed great energy, and got at it all night. He was really aggressive, and stayed on his blocks pretty well. He also gets down field in the screen game pretty nicely. He did get beat inside by Tuck on one play, which was a great play by Tuck. It'll be interesting to see who comes up with the starting job between him and Schwartz.

Sione Fua had a pretty good game as well. That play he busted into the backfield and broke up looked like it was supposed to be a WR screen. VERY impressive that he was able to force a bad throw on a 3 step drop. Shades of Kris Jenkins perhaps the way he is timing the snap count...hopefully without all the offsides and encroachments.

Fua, did look good, and yeah it was a WR screen.

Fua did have a good game, but, a large percent of rookie DTs end up getting hurt, because of how physical the NFL is + the extra games they have to play. Maybe having the lock-out helped Fua and McClain out, letting them rest up before the bulk of the work.

I was also incredibly impressed with Mack. He actually looked like he has made strides to be where he needs to be to play in the NFL. Apparently, he took the starting job from Geoff Schwartz. Maybe the competition fired him up?

Fua is awesome. Gotta give mad props to "The Big fat Guy".

I am gonna go out to get a Fua jersey....will be the only one sporting one.

    • Wanting that type of play and being okay with paying $55 million a season for it are two entirely different things. If Bryce were to become the same player Purdy has been, then he would surpass my expectations of him and I'd be okay with him as our QB of the future (and again, I've long been one of the bigger anti Bryce people here who doesn't think he is capable of being our long term solution). But in no world would I be okay with paying him THAT kind of money, paying an average starter elite money is just a terrible decision.
    • I don't think they can overcome that mistake. Hell Lance was a hiccup compared to this. He isn't going to be able to carry that price tag and now he is going to have to do just that. Lol. The NFL is so dumb sometimes.
    • So, one could say that T-Mac is quicker than someone of his size should be and while he might not be quite as fast as Evans in the 40, he's more athletic than Evans. If only someone, anyone, could have seen that in his tape and mentioned that on here, hmmmmmmm In all seriousness, hearing he tested in the 89th percentile in that drill at his size is crazy impressive.  Just tried to look up the times of the top WRs in the league right now, most don't show at time for that, but I did see Chase ran his in 7 seconds flat. I honestly don't know how true this is, but I do remember seeing one breakdown of his tape and the person said he has quiet and efficient feet.  That he's really good at using the minimal steps possible to make his cuts and because of that, it actually makes him look slower to the human eye because you don't see all the quick chop steps that the guys like Tyreek would use in their running. I'm still in a state of disbelief that he's a Panther and it might not fully hit me until week 1 and I see him out there making plays for us, still feels like Goodell is going to just be like, "YOU GOT PUNKED!!!  hahaha, he's a Cowboy now, suck it"
