Agreed, I think the whole obsessing over another household name at WR is pointless when we have a couple of 3rd round rookies and few guys with Arena League potential to begin the season at DT. Yet, we only have Steve Smith!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen and LaFell and Edwards and a couple of guys that have at least shown promise.

Your assuming we would have not gone after a legit veteran QB. This is what I wanted. I admit I was on the Kolb bandwagon. Kolb, Dareus, Corner 3a and still taken Fua at 3b. I would have been MUCH happier. Still like the Pilares pick in the 5th round for WR. He's a Smitty clone.

I am not necessarily saying Cam was the reason, just that had we decided to go into the season with Clausen, it would have been demoralizing for him and a number of other players on the team.

Not to say Jimmy cannot win them over, but without serious competition going into the year, few would have been very hopeful about the season.

Of course this is my opinion only. No one can be sure what Smitty or any other player think about Jimmy deep down.

And you do of course realize that players are not always totally frank with the press, right?

You missed my next post where I said I wanted a legit vet. You are going on the the assumption that no competition would have been brought in for Jimmy. I'm sure Smitty would not have had a problem with a QB like Kolb.
