Huddle tailgate parking lot in jeopardy?

No joke... I was born and raised in Fayetteville, then moved just outside the city limits but worked, played rec. ball, and everything else besides school after that in Fayetteville as a teenager, so I know all about sh*thole places, lol.

But, I've been to 2 Bobcats games and I couldn't believe they had that terminal right next to the arena when I first went. The first time I went I hung around the arena for like 3 hours and walked all around uptown before the game, including a walk through the bus terminal and I was blown away that they would even have one right next to the arena. On top of that, it didn't appear to be policed very well. I don't like to judge people by appearances but there were a lot of unsavory looking folks with full backpacks hanging around. Needless to say, I left there and went and sat on the other side of the arena while waiting on my friend to get there to go into the game.

The second time I went, I went with another one of my friends and we parked in one of the lots right next to the terminal... It was horribly lit, late at night, and we started walking towards the arena and as we reached the street right in front, a bus stopped abruptly with blinkers on and 3-4 young guys got out running as fast as they could laughing and yelling at each other to "go, go, go!!!" almost knocking people out as they ran through... They then cut through the parking lot and almost ran into us. As they passed a HEAVY, and I MEAN HEAVY, whiff of weedsmoke filled the air behind them.

So, then and there, I decided I would definitely avoid being around the bus terminal in any future trips... Just a lot of chaos going on and it seems to have a "dirty" feel to it...

You said you don't like people invading your personal space or being touched or eating finger foods b/c you don't know who has touched it or where it's been....yet you are more than willing to punch some filthy crackhead who probably has hepatitis B?

no offense dude but I don't think a tailgate (or any social setting, actually) is a healthy place for you to be in.

LOL, a little bit of broad generalizations going on here... Personal space is different to different people.

Over the years, I've observed that most homeless seem to lose the idea of this concept and don't have a problem overstepping simple boundaries that establish respect between two people conversing. Drunks also lose this concept once thoroughly blistered.

"Touching" doesn't constitute personal space, lol... I can dap anyone up and it doesn't bother me a bit. But, I don't like people so close to my face that I can smell their breath. I also don't like when I take a step back from these people that they don't catch a hint and then they take another step to close the distance I just made, lol. This is the space I'm talking about... It's not a giant radius like I'm trying to field a punt. I don't think that's uncommon, and I actually think that's a general unspoken expectation most people have.

But again, many times bums and drunks lose their ability to respect one's personal space in my observations.

And the food thing I already explained. It's not that serious...

And I didn't say I would punch a bum, but I lose patience with them quickly and can't deal with them for very long or I'll need to walk away (if I wasn't able to walk away, I would probably have to punch them then ). I don't prefer to punch people, but again, that goes back to people respecting your person.

I think part of it comes from growing up that often times bums/homeless are plotting on you or trying to hustle you from the jump, so I'd just rather not deal with them because it will just piss me off the more they impose on me. Also, the odds of contracting a disease aren't very likely from a fight... If that was the case, there would be a lot of Eagles opponents contracting herpes.

Sorry to derail, just wanted to clear that up a little bit...

I dunno dude that post about you getting angry for no reason and wanting to punch people was a little creepy.

But I'm with you on homeless people. They scare me. They have nothing to lose. They will try to rob your ass, stab you with a knife, poke you with a dirty needle, etc....over $2 or a couple of warm beers. In fact, they probably want to go to jail. Two hots and cot.

Like I said, the only real negative of our tailgate spot is we have to deal with crackheads, homeless, sketchballs more than I would like and probably average 4-5 a game. After we tell them we aren't giving them anything and to f*ck off they usually get the picture.

I have a lot to lose and hopefully have a long, successful, happy life ahead of me and don't want to have it fuged up by somebody who doesn't care about life.

But a tailgate is like a wedding. It's a happy drunk. All your problems, troubles, real life bullsh*t are gone for the time being when you are celebrating with good food, spirits, friends and family.....so there is always a lot of flirting (with girls unless Salty is there), high fives, bro hugs and pictures being taken! that's how you know you're having a good time and at a good tailgate!

Yeah man, that's the problem in discussing these things in type rather than in person, a lot of the details gets lost in between, lol.

I pretty much was saying the same thing you just did. You may have misread the initial post, but if you look back I specifically said I only feel like I want to "fight" bums (aka homeless) and drunks that invade my personal space...

Nowhere did I say I want to punch random people around me in a public setting, lol. It's mainly bums and drunks that don't know when to quit. Pretty much for the exact reasons you just listed.

Pictures, bro hugs, dap/pound/handshakes, hanging out... those things are all expected. And even those people doing so with a buzz are cool... I just don't have patience for bums/crackheads/hobos and people that don't know when they've had enough to drink.

And the example you gave of having to tell them they weren't getting anything and to f*** off is a prime example of what "makes me want to fight." You know, that jittery, adrenaline-pumping feeling where you say to yourself "if this guy says one more thing to me..."

So, yeah, maybe my first post didn't translate well, but I'm pretty much saying the same thing you are as far as what's cool and what's not. And like I said, I don't drink or anything, but I know what you mean as far as just like zoning out, having fun, and enjoying the company of others - in our case fellow huddlers/Panther fans... That's awesome.
