Huddle tailgate parking lot in jeopardy?

After years of delay, including a prolonged court fight spurred by a change in location, the county will finally break ground Friday on a new park in Third Ward.

Romare Bearden Park has been in the works for nearly a decade, stalled most recently by a two-year halt in new construction spending by the county.

But in July, county commissioners approved $11 million to build the park. A private campaign aims to help pay for construction, future programming and maintenance.

The 5.4-acre park will be built between Church, Mint and Third streets and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Is this the parking lot you guys use? Sucks if it is because that thing was in the middle of it all. Parking lots uptown are becoming a thing of the past. I have been to several games and tailgates in Miami, Jacksonville, and Chicago. My wife enjoys the Miami Dolphins tailgate scene which is a huge parking lot surrounding the stadium. I kind of like the set up in Charlotte where people are all over the city in knooks and crannies. I have a spot under the west scoreboard just behind the railroad tracks. You guys are welcome to move to my lot if yours gets turned into a park. Grand Paws Parking sells the spaces (PM me for their phone number). Here is the view from my space:

will you give us all free food, tent space from the shade, and drinks too?

Actually, yes.

And there will be hot ass girls around, too. Not just Boo and a bunch of bald dudes wearing jean shorts.

The only real negative of my legendary tailgate spot is there is it's a high traffic area for bums, and we usually have to tell 4-5 to fu*k off. At the NYG game, I saw one walk up to our trash pile and slam a beer that someone was using as a spitter. LOL, priceless!

Sounds like it could be the huddle tailgate lot, but it's confusing since it says it's between MLK Blvd and 4th... but it can't be between 3rd and 4th because that block is already occupied.

Romare Bearden Park will be created on a 5.2-acre parcel located in Third Ward between Church and Mint Streets and Martin Luther King (MLK) Boulevard and 4th Street.

Edit: this pic from the official site seems to suggest it will occupy the huddle tailgate lot (added red arrow to show location of huddle tailgate):

Is this your tailgate Mr. Touchdown? Or is it just one that you walk up to and say you're a part of? U got grills, tents, plates, and the whole spread that you actually bring?

If its your tailgate and you'll feed 50 or so of us, give us drinks, and buy us some parking spots to put up tents in we may just take you up on it......

Nah bro it's mine. Been going there for years and it's with all of my friends from high school/college and our families.

You guys are all welcome, but for every 2 dudes you have to bring 1 girl. This should eliminate most of you.

Well, that's what the huddle tailgate is. Nobody will ever claim its the best place to tailgate in the city, none of us really care. It's just a place where some friends hang out before the game, nothing more. There's a core group of us that tailgate and invite anybody else that wants to come. If there aren't enough girls there for you, then it's only 3 spaces in a lot of 300 you can easily walk around to some other tailgates and fire away on any girls you please.

if I was actually going to visit someone else's tailgate the drinks, tents, food are not that appealing. The best thing I ever heard about the huddlegate is that you can leave your cooler there and get it back after like a coat check. You can keep the sunkist and brats. I'm good. But to drag my own booze to the party and not have to double back to store the cooler is pretty cool. Plus there is good excuse to visit the after party (if there was one).

    • You making fun of or not realizing how important that actually is leads me to believe you don’t have either of those assets and are subconsciously upset about it, or you’ve never been in a position to be a leader and thus you don’t value good leadership which Bryce oozes with.
    • I said this last night to family. You can look at Bryce as not a “strong and physical” presence and that’s not going to change on you can look at it, that this guy has the type of skillset that sets him up to only get better for the next 5-7 years every year. He’s not going to know less about the game next year than this year. His timing will be better, his pocket presence better (even though the guy works around a pocket amazingly in my opinion), everything is just going to improve every year and I believed he’s already proved the doubters wrong other than nut huggers on here who just want a big strong man to drool over.
    • The Seahawks won an emotional, divisional, overtime rivalry game vs the Rams on a Thursday night (Dec 18).  That gives them 10 days to prepare for the Panthers, but the Christmas holiday fell a week later--I bet they were afforded an extra day for travel-many coming back east.  Following the Panthers, Seattle plays at San Francisco for the division title (in all probability).   The Rams finish the season with games against the Falcons and Cardinals, two likely wins, pushing them to 13-4.  The Niners finish the season with home games against the Bears and Seahawks. Seattle finishes the season with the Panthers on the road and SF in California.   It is easy to see how preparing for the Panthers, during the holiday break and with the Niners waiting for them in SF a week later for (what could be) the NFC West title and #1 Seed in the NFC, could create the perfect trap game scenario.  The Panthers at home are 5-2.   In the past 2 weeks, the Seahawks struggled to beat the Phillip Rivers Colts in Seattle and then pulled off a miraculous, emotional victory at home vs. the Rams.  I am not convinced that they are as good as advertised. Seattle is a TD favorite in Charlotte.  I feel that Carolina by 3 may be more accurate.  While I am still not confident in this team's consistency and it never seems to dominate, it sure feels like a trap game for Seattle to me.  How could they NOT be thinking of San Francisco right now?  They are not used to being in this position (current players) and it is human nature.  Carolina 27, Seattle 24.
