Cam Newton Edges Tom Brady in Cross Sports Power Rankings

Really? I honestly don't agree....but thank you Cam.

Somehow he managed to get the media on our side, and discount one of the most amazing performances I've seen by Tom Brady where he actually won and beat the Dolphins and picked our guy where he lost. What the hell is going on?!

That's just funny:lol: We finally have someone the media likes talking about.

Cam was the first rookie to throw for 400+ yards in NFL HISTORY

People have had games like Brady had Monday .. and you kind of expect it from him .. so not as big of a deal

But it's still a power ranking. Look I'm happy, I'm just not even sure how to take all of this positive media coverage. Not used to it.

I instinctively expect to come in and have to defend ourselves from some article trashing us. I don't know how to receive compliments as a Panther fan. I have been a victim of fan abuse for so many years that stuff like this just messes me all up;)

Haven't read it yet but if they are talking about the significance of the performance for their team... maybe Cam edges him out. But if it is strictly performance based, it has to go to Brady IMO

I agree and more than edged him either way you look at it. Brady's +500 yard performance and 4TD's certainly had more significance in getting the W for his team.

Nah, I think since this is the mainstream media you have to take into consideration the most important rating of a QB to them....hype curbe rating. It's a hidden stat only they count. Cam certainly edges Tom out in that department. Star rookie beat MVP vet: causes controversy and nice hits to their site.

Wanna know what else I think it's funny? The media's actually committing to the bandwagon sooner than our own fans.

Is this a Panther's forum ..?? You wouldn't think so based on the posts .. too many Brady nuthuggers

Cam's performance was much more impressive based on .. no training camp .. first rookie to throw for 400+ yards in first game .. panthers were 2-14 last season .. I could go on and on

Sorry .. call me a homer .. but Cam's performance was more impressive

homer!:p

And I think what you meant to say is his "accomplishment". Not performance. Unless you want me to call you a crackhead too.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
