Mass Effect vs Fallout 3 vs The Witcher

Ok did you play any of the main quest? in know some side quests are boring but the main quest has one of the best stories in all of Sci-fi.

I did beat the game and I have to admit the main quest WAS good. (The story more so than the actual missions but still. I agree that the story was one of the most captivating I've ever seen.) Maybe it's because I'm OCD and have to play every possible mission, but it seemed like after I had done all of the side missions the main campaign was short and easy, and perhaps spending so much time on the side missions clouded my judgment on the game overall, but I still thought on the whole it was kind of boring.

The only thing that made it worth it was seeing how the story was going to unfold.

wow i very surprised, i hear a lot of great things about ME....

although my all time favorite RPG is Deus Ex, so ME might suite me..

I LOVED Deus Ex. Mass Effect is nowhere near as good as that game. Mass Effect is OK, but it did bore me. I couldn't wait to finish it and I only played through it once. I've played through Fallout 3 twice now and I've played through the Witcher twice. Both the Witcher and Fallout 3 are waaaay longer than Mass Effect also.

BTW, I don't HATE Mass Effect. It just underwhelmed me. I guess I had high expectations for it because I was following the development of that game for a long time. Kind of the same deal with Too Human...I couldn't wait for that game to come out and I was severely disappointed in the final product. It had it's bright spots, but didn't live up to the hype.

i hear they are making a Deus Ex 3. But no release date has been set

It could be good. Im going to try not to get too excited cause then its way to easy to get let down

I've seen one preview for it, with very very early in game shots. If it stays as is, it's going to be a gorgeous game....I liked some of the ideas they threw around in the interview as well....I'm actually looking forward it.

I went back and replayed a couple of hours of Mass Effect to make sure I wasn't being too hasty with my judgement of it. Now I remember what I don't like about it.

1. Scanning for minerals on the planets and scanning planets. BORING. I'm supposed to be a bad ass mofo killing baddies and they want me to fuging go on geology expeditions??

2. Elevators. This game is based in the future yet the elevators move like they're attached to hamsters on pulleys. BORING!

3. The fuging vehicle you have to use to "drive around" on the planets. The controls are terrible. The planets must be made of jelly to cause a vehicle to bounce that much. And why not have a little more flat land on these planets? Is it totally necesary to land in the middle of a god damn mountain range EVERY fuging TIME!!

4. Meaningless drivel. Do I REALLY need to click on something to "look" out the window of my spaceship...and not really look at anything but instead have some useless information downloaded to my codec? PFFFTT!!

I'm sure there is more that I hated about this game but that's from a couple hours of replay.

lol I never understand how some of you guys play games, do you even understand that game and what your doing from the get go? from the sounds of it no.

now first off the elevator is the loading screen for the game if it hasn't occurred to you yet. and the vehicle issues are annoying but they aren't game killers by any stretch of the imagination and on top of that they fixed both for the PC version but even still they aren't that bad. And there is no law that requires you to do the codec stuff and the Survey's if you don't like doing it then don't do it there's no one holding a gun to your head it do it and you can beat the game without doing it, the only time I did that stuff was because I was bored one night.

I almost feel the need to explain the game to you and why some people myself included believe it to be one of the best RPG's to date, but you have the game and I would have thought that you would have noticed why.

1. I did know that the elevator thing was a load screen but so what...load screens/slow elevators suck. Have you ever played GTA IV? That game had tons of more poo in the environment and look at how well they managed to get all that poo in there without having to get on some lame ass medieval elevator every 5 minutes.

2. There is no law that says I have to do the codec stuff and surverys...no poo. The point was that they are mostly meaningless. Why even put it in there? I know that some games have you "collect" things, but other games do a better job of it, IMO.

3. I've been playing video games since 1982, played everything from that godawful ET game put out by Atari (and I'm sure you'll try and tell me how I was somehow missing the point on collecting the reese pieces) to GTA IV...believe me I know what the fug video games are and why they are made.

The game doesn't stink, but it certainly is NOWHERE near the best RPG of all time.

that wasn't the question, I was asking if you understood the game and why people think it's great, not if you know what a video game is and why they're made :frown2:

I didn't hate Mass Effect but it was disappointing. Bioware has made some of my favorite games: Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, KOTOR, and Jade Empire. For some reason I just couldn't get into ME.

Out of the three games, I would go with The Witcher as the best. For me, Fallout 3 was okay but nowhere near the greatness of Fallout 1 & 2.
