Yeah, wet and heavy ball, sloshy field that could have the kicker slipping - plus, if you screw it up the Jags are in good field position. I say it was the right call too. Make them march it downfield...Which they did, thanks to a couple of passes and a bad pass interference call. We squeaked it out, but an ugly W is a W.

I'm not arguing with you guys. When I posted this, the game was still on and ^He was running clock deciding. It's easy for anybody to now after the fact to criticize. Nobody here is man enough to admit that this call could have costed us the game... I'm Super glad it didn't, but I didn't like the call.

We just picked up our 3rd win in 2 yrs...

I am Not mad

I love how fans are entirely ignorant of how weather conditions impact situational football calls. Under normal circumstances, you probably trot your kicker out there for the try. MAYBE you do it. With the wet conditions... NO NFL COACH IN THE LEAGUE would have tried that. When you have to plant the ball in pure MUD in 3 inches of water, the trajectory is impacted. Mare was stoked when he put that 35 yard kick through and it was as flat as a pancake.

You punt the ball there 10/10 times. The only reason we went for 2 there is because the extra point was no gimmie in this weather.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
