We Have the 6th Ranked Pass Defense

So to all those people crying in the offseason that we needed another corner

When you have the 30th ranked rush defense, people don't really ever need to pass the ball.;)

they doesn't mean the pass D is good.

It means the run D is so pathetic a team like the Bears can literally not even have to attempt to throw.

Carolina secondary still has given up more big plays for TDs than anyone in the NFL......

Our secondary has played well, with the exception of a few big plays, are we 6th best in the league? Probably not but top 15 with Gamble, Capt, Godfrey, Martin, and Butler. To me the issue is up front and that should be addressed in the draft whether it's LB or DT. I can't stand to listen to Marc James on wfnz talk about how we need another corner or a big receiver like TO or Moss to help in the redzone, because those needs are so far down on the list. I mean come on we are getting dominated on the D-line that is where we need the help not at WR or CB.

WR is still VERY important. We are a passing team.....and still just have one legit WR carrying over from the running days of Fox. WR is right up there w/ DT. Need both

We've also given up passing TD plays of, 80 (Doucet), 30+ (King), 45+ (Jennings), and 40+ (Gabbert, williams?)

I have to disagree that WR is right up there with DT, we are ranked in the top 5 in passing and the bottom 5 in run defense so the bigger need is LB and DT. I think Gettis is a solid #2 it's just too bad he got hurt. It is very painful to think what this year could have been without the major injuries to Edwards, Gettis, Davis, and Beason.

yeah, but Steve Smith makes it all possible (and we still have no clue on his replacement). 1 man. You can't be a passing offense and have so much dependent on 1 WR.

NO, GB, Indy....then can lose there #1 and keep going. Carolina can't. We are depth/talent wise built to be a running team......yet we are a passing team. That is a problem.

for example, Williams goes to IR? No big deal. Stewart follows him? still we can keep going. Goodson to IR? RBs are a dime a dozen and we can bring in someone off the street.

Steve Smith goes down? We b fizucked.

I agree if Steve Smith goes down we will be in a ton of trouble but as of right now we have 3 reliable receivers if you count Shockey and Olsen plus J-stew has shown he can catch the ball. I just think if you look at our weaknesses the receiving corp is not one of them, could it be better, of course but it could be a hell of a lot worse too.
