The Steve Smith record chase update.

There should at least be a Smitty statue outside of The Vault.

And the 89 needs to be in the Ring of Honor, the second Smitty decides to retire.

That would be enough for me, as a Panthers fan. I've seen what the guy can do. I've watched him since the Minnesota game in '01. I've watched as he progressed from a kick returner with fire in his eyes to one of the elite.

I don't want to get my Hall of Fame hopes up, and it never happen, and I spend years ranting about why Smitty should be in.

89 should be retired. I'm hesitant about retiring numbers, but Smitty deserves it. Not only on a talent level, but I mean...Who else is gonna wear 89? Some other terd face in the preseason comes out wearing 89 and the stadium is gonna boo him to kingdom come. Can you really see the equipment manager letting someone else wear 89? I mean Steve Smith and 89 are one in the same here in Pantherland, you can't have one without the other. Steve Smith is "89." 89 is "Steve Smith."

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to quickly learn the rules and regulations of the game.

Absolutely I read it. Great write-up. Meant nothing against you or what you typed. Just think it'll take him more than some others due to playing in Carolina and not having a Super Bowl (yet hopefully). The two dead seasons could be the difference.

Then let's get the hype machine going!! Believe!

Smiity wont be 33 until next May, I hope he can spend his mid to late 30s being Cam's 3rd down securtiy blanket as a 2nd or 3rd string wide out.

OK, I'm done.

I love that #89 is apart of this new era Panther football. I always wanted him here to pass the torch to Cameron and mentor him on being a Panther. #89 has seen it all here. 1-15, Super Bowl, season ending injuries, playoff runs, you name it. He's a HUGE part of our history. He's the link between eras.

Show me a highlight video of any other player in the NFL and see whose highlight video is more entertaining/impressive I bet you can't find 1 player with at least 5 minute of career highlights better than a 5 minute Steve Smith highlight video I've yet to see one he is by far my favorite player and he will always be #1 to me.

Good Luck on your HoF chase smitty you deserve it
