Being a Panther's fan in South Florida

is abusive. I am the ONLY Panthers fan in South Florida. I must arrive at one of the MANY sports bars 45 minutes before the game starts just to get them to change one of the 30 plus TVs to a Panthers game. The entire time the game is on other "fans" try and get my TV changed even though they see me and my son wearing Panthers gear. Once the Panthers start to blow it, then the New York, Pittsburgh, Philly, Washington, Dallas, Chicago, Green Bay...ect...start heckling me and telling me to just leave so they can get my TV changed.

I am going to see if I can sue Jerry Richardson for this abuse. He keeps promising me a winning team and I keep getting a big stinkin turd. Cease and desist! Cease and desist!!!

That sucks. There are a bunch of bars in CLT that show every game every week.

There must be something you can find.

It's not any easier in other cities. The key is to pick one bar that you like, get to know the staff. Tip well. And bring more than just your son. Eventually, they'll put your game up on the big screen.

you're right. i'm in texas. you think cowboy fans are ignorant and stupid throughout the country, try being here in texas where they run rampant, and every illegal immigrant is asking me why i don't love tony romo and dez bryant and jerry jones.

stay strong riddel

Get Directv and NFL Sunday Ticket so you don't have to put up with that.

Only problem with this is paying $$ for all the other games that I don't care to watch. If someone had a single-team package, I'd consider it.

In the long run, I'd rather pay $15 a week for a few beers and some wings at the local bar, socializing with (hopefully) other Panthers fans and then come back after the game to talk to you guys about it - then sit at home alone watching the game wiht a keyboard in my lap

Well that is your only other option. I think I'd rather pay up and watch in the comfort of my own home than be "abused" That's just me though.

If you're being "abused" at your local sports bar, then either complain to the staff or find a different bar. Nobody should be mistreated for merely wanting to watch a ball game.

And for $15x16 games, minus any that are shown on local, that I see in person, or just conflict with my schedule -- still ends up being cheaper than DirecTV for me. Plus the beer is always colder/better when being served to you.

The other option is to split the costs with a buddy, and watch two TVs at the same house

I get free cable TV and internet....plus Directv are rapists.

When I moved down here I had Directv for 3 years and they continually jacked the price of the ticket up every year and refused to offer me any of the entry offers...it was actually cheaper to cancel Directv after the season ended and then resubscribe each year...but after the 3rd year they decided to stick it to me for canceling...they direct drafted $1200 out of my checking account for 4 receivers and cancellation fee....after months of fighting with my bank and Directv I finally got $600 returned, but they kept $600 and never explained why....so....

now I go to local bars and fight for my right to watch the shitty ass Panthers get owned week in and week out...this is my miserable NFL life right now....would it kill them to at least finish 500 again...at least then I could legitimately request that the game be played...but now....I can barely watch the poo....so...I definitely understand why all the other "fans" want the TV changed....the Panthers SUCK!!!

    • Why do you say that. What leads you to think that we, as supporters, think his ceiling is 10-12. That's a ridiculous assumption on your part. The Seahawks won the SB with Darnold passing for 25 TD's, 14 Ints with a 99.1 rating for the season.  The Panthers with Young were at 23 TD's, 11 Ints and a 78.8 rating for the season. Not that far off. The problem with all the Young discourse around here is the assumption that the QB is the sole determining factor for a teams success. That just isn't true and it's certainly not how Morgan and Tilis are building the Panthers.
    • Do we pay based on how many wins or how many games Bryce led us to wins? We've spent quite a bit on defense this year and hopefully they're much improved. If the Panthers do get to 10 wins, but Bryce has another year like last year where he showed up big in a couple, was present in a few, and forgettable in most, do we still pay him 50m per year?  I keep bringing it up because I think it's relevant, but Bryce was outplayed by a 6m per year backup last year. I don't see how it's possible to pay a top tier QB contract to someone who's putting up backup QB production.
    • I understand tempering expectations, but there are some issues with his points. Walker was a 3 year starter, but Green Bay let him walk and no other team was quick to snatch him up. That says something. Freeling will compete to start. With Hunter, we rotate our linemen and even 5th round pick Cam Jackson played some meaningful snaps last year. Both Brown III and Wharton have underwhelmed since we picked them up. Hunter is a run plugger that we have needed. Hunter will play early, even if he isn't the "starter." Brazzell was described as one of Canales' favorite prospects in the draft and he has a speed element we have been missing. I think Canales is going to have plays drawn up with Brazzell on the field just out of pure excitement. It will be up to Brazzell to prove he can handle it, though. If he can, he will play. As far as our secondary picks, yeah they have to earn their stripes and Evero tends to lean on veterans. So they might take time, but if they can show they can play, they will see the field. Smith-Wade and Ransom did. Sam Hecht simply has to show he can handle the mental side of the NFL game. If he can, he is in a direct competition with Fortner, who's also relatively young, but also on his 3rd NFL team and doesn't have the power profile of Hecht.  I can appreciate that Gantt wants to pour cold water on what was perceived as an impactful draft, but facts are facts.
