Revis vs Gamble

Watching the MNF game, and we all know Revis' reputation as the best corner in the game precedes him... But, in watching the game tonight, I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between what he's doing in coverage that isn't getting called versus, for example, what we saw Gamble get called for in coverage yesterday?

Gamble was called for basically hand fighting with a receiver (past 5 yards)... In watching the game tonight, Revis was just covering Brandon Marshall and they were past 5 yards as well, and Matt Moore went to throw a back shoulder fade to Marshall in the endzone. Revis was basically holding Marshall the entire time, was on his back before the ball got there, then slapped the ball down through him.

How is that not pass interference but what Gamble did was?

I'm not saying people should look at Gamble like Revis, but he's a much better corner than many people want to give him credit for. I just think it's bullsh*t that guys like Revis get a blind eye turned to them in regards to penalties because people have talked them up for no reason, and Gamble has played his ass off this season and gets called for "hand fighting."

EDIT: As I finished typing this, Revis just pulled Marshall down past 5 yards again and ran back an interception for a 100-yd TD.

that was PI on Revis no doubt about it.

Yeah, he's done it twice in the endzone now and one resulted in the TD.

I'm just saying, he is aggressively yanking Marshall around and our guys get called for fighting to ensure they are in position to make a play on the ball with their hands.

Yeah, I was fliping channels and was surprised at how quickly 7 point was added to the Jets score...

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
