Phantom holding call

I don't know, but this kind of sh*t is happening too often.

Again, I don't want to be complain about refs guy, but we're consistently taking more than our share of borderline/farcical penalties, and it's costing us games.

it very well could of been, but it was petty and that happens every single play and sometimes alot worse then that and it doesn't get called.

ref probably looking for brownie points from officiating grades. "see I called that obscure hold way away from the ball where no one was looking and changed the fate of the game give me the credits!"

Smitty didn't hold, Nanee didn't hold earleir, and the offensive PI call on Shockey was pure BS. The defender was standing right in the path of Shockey's route on that play, so that should have been defensive PI, if anything. Really, it should have been a no call.

Even on the pass Smitty caught on the 1yd line, they called it a TD when the freakin side judge was standing 5 ft. away and looking right at it, but somehow he couldn't see Smitty hit the ground a full yard in front of the GL?

I don't know if it's just the crews that we are getting, but they have been absolutely horrible this year even on some calls that went our way as well.

We will never win the battle versus the refs. They bet money on us losing and try to call anything in crucial situations. Yet the other team doesn't get anything called on them unless it was very very obvious. They know what they are doing out there and I do to. It does't take a genius.

You can call it holding if you want, but if you're going to call that holding you have to be consistent. That was NOTHING compared to what happened in NUMEROUS crucial plays the Vikings ran. Based on the standard set in the rest of the game, that was NOT holding. Or even close to it. It doesn't matter if it wasn't near the play, Smitty didn't hold him, he didn't affect his ability to make a play, it shouldn't have been called.

The things is if the refs called the game's evenly, the Panthers defense would get about 10 holding calls a game. Same goes for every team in the NFL, oline holds on every single play, the Panthers just don't get favorable calls very often.

I'm not gonna blame a loss on officiating, but it was bad today.

There were 2 holding calls earlier in the game that were awful as well.

And Shockey got called for offensive pass interference or whatever it was again just like in the Bears game... total BS call. He barely grazed the defender and the guy just falls down. Refs really need to use better judgement. It's not that hard to tell when a guy is over acting and faking big time. If you're not literally pushing off a guy real hard or tugging and holding a guy like crazy it shouldn't be called.

They got the Naanee facemask call right. That was it for what they flagged us for.

Yea, there were a number of very good calls today when it came to catch/no catch, and things of that nature. The only big flub was giving Smitty the TD, but they were able to correct that. But the penalty calls were atrocious. And it wasn't even. The bad calls were going against the Panthers for stuff the Vikings weren't getting called for. I'm not saying the refs intentionally had it out for the Panthers, that's ridiculous, but for whatever reason the penalty calling wasn't held to an equal standard.

It was clearly a hold a to me, just sucks it was on that play in that position we were in. But wished Olsen would have caught that catch before that play. The ball seemed to me at a good height for Olsen and the defender didn't know where the ball was. It bounced off the defenders's helmet for gawd's sake... lol aww well.

    • I like this kid--he will make the roster.  However, he said that his sophomore year was the first playoff game in school history. Incorrect.  Western Carolina beat them in the FCS playoffs many years ago.

    • Furyk is weird. That’s a loop.  A hitch. That’s not Young as a QB. I was raised in golf land.. the family business. Tiger was pretty classic. I’m not sure what the exact discrepancy in his swing was, pre and post intervention. I remember names of the top echelon coaches involved (Haney, Harmon).
