Newton versus Luck

This.

But Cam Newton and all his physical abilities are once-in-a-lifetime. We've never seen a person play quarterback that has the combination of mobility, physical stature, arm strength, etc., as Newton. Now that he's shown he can adapt to the NFL game and that his learning curve is vastly shorter than any of us ever imagined, the sky is absolutely the limit with him as an NFL quarterback. And while we may eventually see someone like Newton again, it certainly won't be in next year's draft.

Ok. I feel this argument is silly. Take Luck all you want without hurting my my feelings, but damn Clarke Judge you look like a slapdick when you list one of the Andrew's advantages is that he played in a more pro style offense.

I had to laugh at that too. It really shows how much all of these analysts just repeat what they heard someone else say on TV.

If Cam can continue to keep the interceptions to a minimum and continue to be accurate like he has in the past 2 games, he's going to be a top 5 in the NFL QB for years to come.

The thing that makes Cam a level higher than Luck is his running ability and size. Your offensive coordinator just has more tools in the toolbox to work with when Cam is your QB.

Cam makes life really difficult for defensive coordinators. He's big, tough, and elusive in the pocket. He can juke people as well as the best running backs.

Cam has pretty good "pocket presence". He can "feel the rush" pretty good while he's looking downfield going through his progressions. He just needs to try to protect the ball better while he's doing it to avoid fumbles. If the pocket breaks down he can still do all sorts of things back there. Run for a quick 10+ yards (not taking a hit preferably), dump it to a running back or tight end, etc.

Cam can keep plays alive. Every lineman needs to look for someone to block until that whistle blows. Every running back and receiver needs to look for someone to block if they aren't running a route. Cam can play "street ball" pretty well when the pocket breaks down. We'll see if Luck can do all of these things once he gets to the big, bad NFL. It'll be a tall order for him to match Cam's skills.

Luck is going to make everyone hold his dick.

you can't even say Luck outplayed the USC QB last week.....

no such thing as a sure things....especially a QB out of a weak conference. Granted the kid can play but there is little suggest he will ever match his hype.

I'm nowhere ready to form an opinion on Luck's pro career for good or bad. Cam proved 90% of the "experts" wrong, so obviously anything could happen. It depends on so many other things (what team drafts him, offensive scheme, supporting cast, and the list goes on and on). Only when he is actually drafted and take snaps for an NFL team can you begin the evaluation process.

With that being said, I just wish they would stop comparing him and Cam for god's sake. How stupid of a question is it to ask: "Which QB will have a better career?" or "Which QB would you rather build a franchise around?" He's in collegeeee. None of those guys have a clue. So knock it off sports media :nono: and find something more intelligent to talk about until Luck is actually playing for an NFL team.

Exactly. After most of these experts were made to look like fools by Cam, you would think they would hedge their bets a bit on Luck. Instead, many seem prepared to induct Luck into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

They are doing him a huge disservice. Anything less than spectacular play will have people calling him a disappointment.

    • Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
