New Head Coach...

Awesomeness!!

The other would be that he also averaged 18.5 yards per catch with Delhomme throwing him the ball in 2008. He also averages 20.0 yards per catch in the Superbowl. So this isn't "new" for Steve Smith. And common sense should tell you that when Tom Brady who is a 67% passer can't pass good enough to get Wes Welker these yards per catch averages who is at 14.0, it ain't the rookie QB that's a better thrower than the elites and making the receiver look good, but it's clearly the other way around.

This is the dumbest comparison that you've ever made, not that I expect anything less from you. You do realize that Steve has always had a high YPC because of his route tree? He is a down field threat and our offenses, despite being different systems, have always been designed around this. Smith runs the deep routes so it's natural for him to have a high YPC because that's where he is set up to make a catch, it's not like Newton has the choice to just throw him the ball half way through his route.

Welker DOES NOT PLAY THE SAME POSITION SMITH DOES. Welker essentially plays the same position that Naanee does, he's just 100% better at it than Legotron and Brady is very good at getting him the ball. He runs underneath routes and crossing patterns out of the slot position, this is where the gets the majority of his yards. Smith has said previously that he would rather transition to the slot, but so far he hasn't.

Their YPC are a product of the routes they run. Smith needs someone to deliver him the ball. Did you even watch him with Clausen last year? Clausen couldn't make the throws to Smith so he had his worst year ever. Newton can make the throws to Smith down field where he's intended to be, where he's always been designed to be over his whole career.

You and I both know this, who cares if PFFL and his alts do. Plus his whole argument still doesn't address basic points regarding causality. Just because Smith has a bunch of deep passes doesn't support the notion that Smith is the reason that Cam has thrown a number of successful deep balls. After all Smith caught them because Newton threw them to him. By all accounts Newton throws a great very catchable deep ball. Smith has said it himself. Plus if it was all Smith then why didn't he have the same great success with Moore or Clausen. That doesn't even scratch the surface. If Smith were not here and Gettis were healthy, would Newton still have success with deep balls. Look at LaFell, he suddenly went from 12 yards a catch last year to 16 yards a catch this year. Coincidence? Not hardly, pilgrim. Regardless of the "what ifs" and various possibilities, the reality is that all of the alts confuse speculation and interpretation with fact. Now he has different alts enter the debate with slightly different characteristics to try and appear as if he has concensus. It is ridiculous and shows he has no life at all.
