It's a rebuilding and a learning season for all. Calm the fuck down

The whole "rebuilding year" is a load of crap. It's an excuse made for bad poorly managed teams. Well run organizations don't rebuild and field bottom 2 teams for consecutive years. They reload. They lose a guy to retirement, injury or free agency and it doesn't matter. They have a young stud waiting in the wings or they go out and acquire new talent, plug him in and continue right along winning.

And BTW I'm perfectly calm though I guess pointing out negative things about the organization leads some people to think you are somehow freaking out. I just like to see things how they are. We've had several years of horrible drafting, horrible trades, no noteable outside free agents and poor cap management. This has left us with one of the weakest rosters in the NFL and you see the result.

It all comes back to management. If the FO was doing a good job to begin with then you wouldn't have to blow up the team and start over.

if fox had been forward thinking rather than trying to recreate the '03 team with the same players then we might not have been in this mess.

fox ran us down the wrong road and last year was setting up for the actual rebuilding with the necessary building blocks we were previously lacking (coaching staff & QB).

Fox was removed from the personnel decisions the last couple of years he was here and if you notice this exactly coincides with when our overall draft record went from middle of the road to downright horrible. The organization didn't improve in adding talent once Fox was taken out of the picture. It got worse, MUCH worse.

I'm not saying Fox didn't have his own mistakes or that the way he goes about building a team is the best way. But trying to blame everything on him is just another excuse to shift blame away from our current situation.

Haters have always been here and band wagoners hop on once we start winning, not bitch when we start losing. Unless of course you are talking of Newton Band wagoners.

What you are see are people who don't believe it takes 3 years to build a winning team. Notice I said winning team, not a playoff team. There is no excuse for 2 wins, not even a learning team. It only makes it more frustrating that throughout history teams have proven over and over again that rebuilding doesn't have to take years and years if it is done properly.

Fans are getting fed up with being told the same bullpoo and no apology letter from JR will help that we want to win.But the bottom line is even when you consider the circumstances, accept we are rebuilding, we suck so much more than we should.

Yeah. But the offense is taking care of its end, better than the defense anyway.

I like what I am seeing from Cam, Chud, Steve, Olsen. Offense is moving the ball, scoring points, and obviously the play of Cam is enough for this season to be a wash.

But, the defensive play is bad. Very bad. People are going to complain about it, because it is a glaring weakness with a HC that is supposed to be able to field a competitive D.

Injures aside, performances like what we saw against Detroit are unacceptable. Stafford had a field day, some runner no one has ever heard of put up 200 total yards. It is really a joke if you think about it.

Fox knew defense, look at what he's doing in Denver. The best players we have left on D are all guys Fox had a hand in drafting. We haven't added any premier impact players on D since we removed Fox from personnel decisions. In fact over the last 3 offseasons we've only added one impact player (Cam). 3 years, one impact player. There are teams that have added significantly more talent during the course of one offseason than we've done over the last 3.

"Rebuilding" at that pace and you're NEVER going to be a legitimate contender.

fox was taken out of personnel decisions in '10. that's it. every year before that he was given the team he wanted.

when richardson saw after that playoff loss to the cards that we weren't progressing, he gave fox that ultimatum that if he didn't get a winning record 2 years in a row then they were going to tear it down and start over. fox had one season ('09) after that loss to get the job done his way. he couldn't. he tried doing it the same way. it failed.

last year's draft...meh. hurney just tried getting guys he thought would help the new coaching staff out. he took a gamble on a QB that didn't pan out. he took another gamble on a guy he thought would be an impact player. that was probably more of a JR thing than anything. remember we also got lafell, gettis, and hardy in that draft so i wouldn't call it a miserable failure. all three of those guys turned out to be pretty good picks.

this year they started filling out the roster with the guys rivera wanted. it was just a starting point, but they got the most important part of the puzzle in that draft an managed to bring in a couple guys that would help him succeed/grow as a passer. 3 of their first 4 picks were defensive guys. the first two were DTs who, like most positions, take a couple years to get going. the third was considered by many a steal who only fell because of an injury and some relatively minor character concerns. if we had that 2nd rounder back, we probably would have gone defense as well. oh well.

it's just the beginning of the actual rebuilding, though.

it wouldn't have looked nearly as bad were it not for the injuries that happened and if they had gotten a full offseason to prepare.

Couldn't be that long until someone threw out "injuries" and "no full offseason" I guess. excuses excuses excuses

I really don't see why it's so hard for people just to admit that we're poorly managed resulting in a weak roster and we're losing because of it.

Or why we put these artificial pointless labels on seasons just as some kind of an excuse to why it's perfectly OK that we're terrible.

Last year we sucked but it's OK because it was a "tear down the roster" season.

This year we suck but it's OK because it's a "rebuilding" season.

Next year if we suck, it's OK because.. umm let me think.. oh I got it.. it's a "transition" season.

2013 still suck ass? well umm it's a "learning" season. But hey, we're still a good well run franchise everybody. Calm down!

injuries are not an excuse. it happened to key guys on the team.

there was no offseason. that was important for any team, esp. a team with a new coaching staff, new systems on offense and defense, and a rookie QB.

those aren't excuses. they are realities and they had a huge effect on how things would turn out.

i guess it's just easier to start moping around and complaining about how the team just always sucks rather than recognizing that poo happened and it messed things up.

Well I guess we'll just have to wait until we can be completely free of injury, even if we're counting on guys like Thomas Davis and Otah to lock down starting positions.

And we have to wait until the NFL gives us more offseason time than any other team.

That's all we need right? 3 years of rebuilding, no injuries and more offseason time than other teams are allowed. Anything else?
