we don't need more offseason than any other team so quit being so silly and melodramatic (unless that's just your thing).

we needed more than what we had. that's all. we needed more time than most teams because most teams weren't in this situation having a ....again.... new coaching staff...new schemes on offense and defense....and a rookie QB.

what team had all of those things going on? just that put us behind other teams. it sucks, but thats just the way it is.

add to that losing your most important part of your defense in jon beason...thats kind of like losing your QB on offense.

i have said elsewhere that they get a pass this year that they won't be getting next year. considering the circumstances, them struggling this year was to be expected and...again...the lack of offseason and injuries to key guys, but esp. beason, really made things worse and you are just blind and/or stupid if you can't see that those two things had an effect and that it probably effected us worse than it would most teams.

we have seen enough from esp. this offense to know that it can and will be a powerhouse in the league. cam getting a year under his belt and a full offseason along with an upgrade on the right side should be enough to make the offense one of the top 5 in the league.

the defense will have beason back. they will have the DT they planned on starting but who got sent to IR back as well. we should have an upgrade at OLB and at other positions on defense as well. it's silly and narrowminded to think that we won't be doing anything in the offseason to help the defense. add to that this defense will benefit, just as the offense will, by having a full season under their belts in the new system along with a full offseason.

that doesn't mean we are a lock for the playoffs, but from next year going forward there is no reason that this team shouldn't have winning records every year and be legit considerations when talking playoff.

we needed more than what we had.

LOL which would have been more than what any other team had

and i see you're still beating that old injury excuse to death. here's a thought, if we had quality depth and didn't rely on injury prone guys so heavily maybe it wouldn't be a problem.

you say theres no reason we shouldn't be a winning team for years to come but what happens if we lose a couple of starters to injury next year? won't that be an excuse for you then since it's one for you now. and btw, we probably will lose a few, most teams do. but i guess it's nice to always have a built in excuse. "we have a great team stacked with talent, it's just the injuries!!!!"

Well run teams have quality depth so they don't have entire seasons derailed by a few injuries. Guys go down, next man up, team keeps winning. Depth also directly reflects on how good your STs is and I don't think I even need to bring up how bad our STs has been for years now.

The fact that we fill so much of our team with 3rd stringers, other teams castoffs and PS guys just shows the problem. The team is unbalanced. We have a handful of guys massively overpaid taking up a huge chunk of cap space and then we're forced to fill the roster with bare minimum nobodies.

So you're saying injuries don't have an effect on a team? When the backups to the backups are injured there's not much you can do. Thomas davis obviously was a risky decision to keep. But beason was a huge blow. It affects the way teams gameplan. Im sure if the 49ers lost willis and whoever the other backups are they wouldnt be 9-1. Its not an excuse its just reality. Sure, there are quality backups in the league but when they are forced to play full time we see what happens (connor), hence why they are in the backup role

Obviously injuries have an effect on a team but every team faces injuries. Packers had more talent in IR last year than we do now and won the super bowl. Would having no injuries helped? Of course, but we still wouldn't be a true contender or a well run franchise and it's not realistic to expect no injuries anyway.

Injuries is the excuse. Lack of depth is the real problem.

Freeman and the Bucs have clearly slid back with a coach on the hot seat. Drew brees won't be able to play forever, and Atlanta has no draft picks for 15 years for Julio Jones. We're bound to slide into an NFC South title sometime in the next 7 years or so.

I shouldn't say just depth but overall talent of the roster. Even if you have a few fill in scrubs playing terribly if the rest of your team is extremely talented you'll be able to compensate for it.

If you look at your 53 man roster with zero injuries, and it's one of the most talented rosters in the league, stacked with playmakers, you'll can lose a few key guys throughout the year and still make the playoffs. Or at the very least be in the hunt.

The Ravens just faced a very tough Bengals team with a winning record (BTW we haven't beat a team with a winning record since the 2009 season). They had their leader and HOF LBer Ray Lewis standing on the sidelines in street clothes. But they're one of the best run organizations in the league and are STACKED with talent. So they still play well and pull out a win and are now leading their division. Their fans don't have to sit around and make excuses.
