Charles Johnson has steadily improved each year, I think he can achieve double digit sack figures

I saw him miss around 4-5 sacks just by the finger tips or with a handful of jersey, he just needs to refine himself a little bit and he will be a great pass rusher

Yes. I think he has great potential, I've thought that since we got him. But to go from being a situational passer one year, to being an every-down every-day DE the next would be a big change and would take some getting used to. I think it's reasonable to expect about 7 sacks his first year doing that.

Well, 7-8. I just think he is going to need a year to get adjusted to the tempo before he can really shine.

When I say double digit sack figures I mean 10-11 but it wouldn't really be dissapointing if he achieved lower totals depending on other factors

He has the potential to get 12-14. Unless our new scheme incorporates some surprising blitzes or we get a surprisingly effective pass-rushing DT, I'd expect 6-8. A lot depends on how Taylor is used and if we're able to sign Robertson and how effective he is. If we do get Robertson, I'd see rotating him in on passing downs along with Taylor. I could see CJ reaching 10-12 sacks in that case...but again, a lot depends on Robertson's knees and if he can provide enough pressure to warrant a double team.

He's in the top 5 for sacks for a DT since he was drafted and he's had the knees problem since he was in college/before college.....Take from that what you will though.

If you ask me Charles Johnson could be our Justin Tuck. Johnson could be a 10+ sack guy as long as our defense isn't on the field for long periods of time.

I had to do some driving today and was wondering how the makeup of the D-line would look if Peppers ended up staying, one year or long term, and with Meeks new style of defense. Peppers of course would continue to be a starter but I personally like both Brayton and Johnson.

Brayton gets a lot of critisim for only being a run stopper but thats just not the case. Brayton is very good at applying pressure and pushing the pocket. The upside that Brayton has is he does this without having to push to the outside and often taking himself out of a play like Johnson has had a tendency of doing.

Johnson on the other hand is a clone of Indy's Mathis IMO. Great speed and power and is continuous in his pursuit. Johnson fits the style of DE in a Meeks defense to the T.

So, for me I like all three of these guys as starters. So why not start all three? IMO, pulling Lewis off of the RDT position and allowing him and Kemo to resume their rotation that was so effective in the past is the best situation for the two of them. Brayton, although I don't like moving him again, is able to play that DT position and could be an ideal option in Meeks' system. Although Brayton isn't known for getting a lot of sacks he has consistantly been able to push his man back which is really all we need out of that DT position with a couple of sacks here and there.
