Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas says Tuesday’s meeting with free-agent center Kwame Brown went “great,’’ as the Bobcats work to re-sign him.

“He was adamant about trying to come here, that he really liked what we did for him last year,’’ Silas described. “How positive we were with him, how we worked with him. He said nobody ever really worked with him as much as we did.’’

Brown, an unrestricted free agent, ended last season as the Bobcats’ starting center. He has drawn interest from other teams, notably the Miami Heat. By returning to Charlotte, he’d likely remain a starter, playing for a coaching staff that values him.

“He wants to work this thing out (to return here) and I hope he does because he’s in terrific shape,’’ Silas said. “You can just tell by his face, and all slim and trim in his whole body. He really wants to be here, and he knows he can be.’’

Brown’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Tuesday Brown does value his experience in Charlotte. But Bartelstein also cautioned there’s a business aspect, as in looking for the most compensation as an unrestricted free agent.

Bartelstein indicated Tuesday that Brown’s decision should come in the next few days. The earliest free agents can sign with teams is Friday, the first day of training camp.

Think we will get anyone else? Any other rumors out there about trying to find someone who can score points?

There were some rumblings we are trying to sign RFA Reggie Williams from Golden State. Could probably be backup at SG and/or SF. Shot 42% on 3's last year. He will probably get some offers from other teams and GS has the ability to match any offer. I think it is a long shot unless we overpay, but I haven't heard anything else.

Gotta get Kwame. He had probably his best year in many years and seems to be a different player, better player under Silas. If you want a starting center thats what you've got to be prepared as a GM to pay for. Like it or not last year made Kwame Brown starting center material once again. Pay the man.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
    • He is an employee of the team and speaking on the team's official channel. They arent critical of anything ever.
