FWIW

Stephen A Smith radio show on 710 ESPN just said his source said that the plan was in place for cp3 and d12 to come to the Lakers. It was a package deal. It was already to go. CP3 and Dwight had talked about it and that was the plan.

I'm not sure it's going to happen, but it's looking like the dream team in L.A. is still a very distinct possibility. It will come down to how vocal Dwight is, and who the Magic like better, Brook Lopez or Andrew Bynum....

I think it's telling that the Nets (D12's preferred destination if you listen to the media) are desperately trying to get Nene under contract....

http://www.iamagm.com/news/2011/12/10/nets.increase.offer.nene.four.years.70.million?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Nene, the top center left in free agency, is reportedly pushing for a max contract and could get the most money by re-signing with the Nuggets. But after the Nets missed out on free agent Tyson Chandler, who agreed to a deal with the Knicks, they upped the offer for Nene to four years, $70 million, according to a source.

Not gonna have money for Howard and Hedo's contract if they ink Nene to that kind of deal....

Marc Stein: Mavs' first swipe, I'm told, will be trying to do S-and-T w/Sacramento for Dalembert by using big trade exception from Tyson Chandler deal

Would more than likely take Dallas out of the D12 sweepstakes as the trade exception would be used to absorb Hedos terrible contract...

IMO Lopez isn't much of a downgrade from Bynum. Plus they have enough cap room to take on Turkoglu.

According to WoJo there are a couple reasons he wants NJ:

1. Good freinds with Williams

2. Wants to be the centerpiece in Brooklyn

3. Doesn't want to follow Shaq's footsteps from Orlando to LA

He probably would sign an extension with LA if he is traded there, so it really comes down to who can put together the best package.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
