billick coached the #1 offense and went on to win a super bowl with a strong defense

dungy coached the #1 defense and went on to win a super bowl with a strong offense

not sure if gruden ever coordinated a #1 unit... but he won a super bowl with a big defense, while he was an offensive coach

rivera had #1 defenses and is now coaching a team with a much better O than D

uhhhhh

Tampa's D was ranked #1, and Dungy was the coach the year before, Sapp said that all Gruden did was take Dungy's cake out and put the icing on...

But, their Superbowl win against the Raiders, the Raiders had the #1 O and the Bucs had the #1 D...Gruden coached the Raiders the year before

Yep. All four were known as specialists on one side of the ball, but coached teams that were better known for the other side.

The three coaches named all won Super Bowls with those teams relatively early in their career. Gruden in his first year with the Bucs, Billick in his second with the Ravens, and Dungy in his fifth with the Colts.

Rivera's only had one year as a head coach, but in that year the team was better known for offensive prowess than for Rivera's specialty of defense. Can Rivera have similar early success in the years to come? Time will tell.

Kudos. I thought it'd take longer for someone to get it

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
