The WR in the draft most like Smitty is Kendall Wright at baylor

I thought Gettis was the heir apparent to the smitty mold.

As much as I'd like a clone, I think I'd prefer a go up and get it player that's 6'2" or taller with big hands and mean. Couple of those in 1st round this year....and even into the second. All depends on their 40s and off the defender abilities...can't make another Jarrett-type pick.

I think the most important quality for a WR in the NFL (excluding being 6'5") is the ability to get separation. That is why smitty is so good. Height matters but getting open is more important. If you can get open and run a 4.2 forty, thats even better.

Gettis' mold is nothing like Smitty if you mean physical mold. Pilares is the closest thing we have to a Smitty mold (AE is too skinny). But Pilares doesn't seem fast enough to get away with his height disadvantage yet.

They said Baylor's defense was horrible before the game and they weren't kidding. I'm going to need Baylor to maintain a drive so I can see some more of him. I've read a lot about Wright lately and was looking forward to seeing this game. I do agree with the op's premise though a lot people try to compare a lot of smaller receivers to Smitty but Wright seems to have the physical nature like Smith.

This game is awful.

Not only is Washington the most boring team in the entire world, the complete lack of any sort of defensive talent in this game is just stupid.

I like shoot outs as much as the next guy, but I like my shoot outs to be chess matches, not a total lack of any competentcy on defense. This just sucks. Defenses are so fundamentally poor that it's literally a 45 yard gain every 3 plays or so.

And Wright just dropped the Super Cam.

Stupid unoriginal kids.

You ever seen anyone copy a celebrating from any Panther player before that? Just makes me happy knowing that we have national presence.

Anyone know what Wright's stock looks like? Can we get him 4th or later?

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
