Who would you take with the first pick of the draft?

with brees in control of the saints offense, pass rush takes priority over the secondary.

if brees has time, it won't matter who is covering who, he's going to make plays.

the key is to disrupt him before the plays have time to develop.

Well I think it works in tandem.. If you rush the passer but your secondary sucks you'll get burned & if you can't rush the passer you'll get burned...

But I do think great pass rushers could mask a small flaw in the secondary a bit.

A pass rush is a necessity. We can work with the corners we have. We cannot work with a lack of pass rush

This deserves repeating!

I say Quinton Coples, and it has nothing to do with the play of CJ or Hardy. It's the most impactful position on defense. The Giants took JPP when they already had Tuck, and Osi.

I agree we need a Corner, but I don't see us taking a corner in the first round, even if we don't take a DE, I can see us taking a LB in the first before we take a CB.

It'll probably be bpa, but today affirmed that Charles Johnson is the only double team worthy player on our d-line. Nothing against Hardy or Keiser, but add a top notch DE with rotation and I think you'll see our defense get a whole lot better. The only three players I'd take at our draft position would be Claiborne if he falls, Couples if he falls, or Kirkpatrick.

If he declares Luke Kuechly may end up being the BPA. Couples seems like a great prospect but he seems like a bust risk to me. Not a scout though and he could be the real deal. Dre Kirkpatrick was my pick if we were just outside of the top ten but now being at 8 he's not as appealing. While I agree we need defense this drat is very offense heavy in the 1st round IMO. Defense may need to addressed via FA this offseason and go after Reiff or Floyd at 8.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
