maybe I'm over-reacting

I haven't had a chance to see the Panthers play much this year,so maybe this is just over-reacting,but it seems that the Panthers struggle in the 2nd half of games, whether it be scoring or defense. Is it play calling or players not making plays....or both?

They led heading into the 4th Quarter of most games.

The Panthers defense is one of the worst in the league, and it showed up again today. Because the Offense is CONSTANTLY looking at the other team's offense march down the field and score DRIVE AFTER DRIVE, it eventually flames out.

It's happened in nearly every loss this season. At some point the Defense gives up TD after TD, and the Offense gets pissed, and probably quits because they're now down by 10 or more after just being ahead.

Might as well.

IMO, as much as I've heard the rants on this site about 3rd and 4th qrt struggles, I'd say it's the coaching. If it were the offense, adjustments would have been made a long time ago.

It seems every opposing team started the first half one way then make adjustments in the second half. From what I saw today, it seems the Panthers don't seem to have a answer for the adjustments. That, IMO, means the coaches need to really searching for ways to handle what should be easy to handle by now.

I personally feel the defense simply isn't that good. They have sparadic moments but for the most part, they are truly lacking.

    • One of his handful of good games... If he can ever get to a consistently high level, then he'd change minds. As it is... Meh.
    • People are also jumping to the conclusion that Darnold would have figured it out here. I very much disagree. He needed a place where he could be a backup for a while with no pressure. So all the pining over him was pointless. Highly unlikely he would do anything but continue to fail had he stayed here. The one that got away was Baker. He was not as bad as he seemed here. He was always a good player but we were a two bit, middle of the road college program grasping at straws. Had we invested the time in Baker that we have done for Bryce, history would have been quite a bit different. To what end, who knows? Doesn't matter. There are a million hindsight stories that are very unkind to this franchise. There is no one that is more significant than the other. It is what it is.
    • He’s a serviceable starter for us that doesn’t cost much. The reason he doesn’t cost much is that he has flaws, one of which appears to be catching the ball.  It would be good to have a better corner opposite JC but he’s not at the top of the list when it comes to people we need to upgrade.
