Breaking News Polians Fired in Indy

Recommended Posts

lol I was about to comment on the great defense, but rayzor beat me to it. Indy has never had a great defense, just two great DEs for a long time. The only time they ever got their defense to play respectably it was at the right time (end of the year into the playoffs) and they won the Super Bowl.

rex grossman was no challenge either

Oh the Irony. The same guy Manning told to stay in school last year, will be the QB taking his job this year.

Irony, or did Manning plan it?

With all the records that Peyton Manning holds, he really wanted just one of them. He wanted Brett Farve's "Iron Man" record. After Farve kept coming back and coming back and coming back, Peyton knew the one record he wanted, he wasn't going to get.

With the one record he wanted, Peyton, let it go and had surgery. (His neck had been giving him problems all the entire previous season.) Or else why did he wait so long to have his initial surgery?) Peyton knew that the Colts would slip back into their losing ways if (aka: the 80's and 1/2 the 90's.)

So he puts off surgery, tells Andrew Luck to stay in school another year and has the surgery and at least one more. Even with the late season, Manning isn't playing.

The rest as they say, is history. Colts Sux royally! Get the #1 draft pick, the same guy that Peyton told to stay in school one more year. Now the Colts are poised to make Andrew Luck their #1 draft pick. (No matter what Whitlock says.)

MAYBE, when Peyton writes his autobiography, the truth will come out. MAYBE!

if it actually happened peyton could write a book about it if he wanted the colts, and by extension, manning himself to get accused of tampering

no doubt. first time in TEN years they didn't make the playoffs. such poor long term planning.

makes me glad we understand success here in Carolina. ;)

5 years of poor drafting is why they're in a bad shape. Not even sure Manning would have taken them to playoffs this year. Learn to work kid

would you guys like to make the playoffs 10 straight years or once every 5 or 6?

How much do you think Payton had to do with that? Take him away and it immediately becomes the worst team in the NFL, as we've seen.

Look at that Colts roster today and tell me it's not the least talented team in the entire league.

1998: The Colts are the worst team in the league (1-15). Because of this, they hire Bill Polian. Then the team gets Peyton Manning.

2011: The team loses Peyton Manning. The Colts are the worst team in the league (2-14). Because of this, they fire Bill Polian.

Full circle.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
