Some healthy competition?

As this is my first year participating in Huddle discussion, I don't know if you guys have done this in previous years, so forgive me if this is something you already do.

Since opinions are so abundant on the Huddle, let's formalize a bit before the season starts and make some predictions. There's a thread now where everyone is posting their predicted record and another with predictions for DWill/JStew rushing stats.

I'm wondering if one of the senior members could take the lead and maybe start a separate forum for some official preseason predictions. Winner gets jack shite. Except for Huddle bragging rights which can be recognized in the signature.

Suggested date for entering predictions: Monday before Week One.

I know we're a long ways away here, but getting together a formal prediction contest might cut down the number of potentially irrelevant prediction threads that happen in the offseason. I know, I know...that's just me being naive. Of course those threads will continue.

Potential Categories:

Record

End of Season Offense Rank

End of Season Defense Rank

Steve Smith Total Yards

Steve Smith Total TDs

Delhomme Yards

Delhomme TDs

Delhomme INTs

And so forth for key players...

Maybe throw in a few wildcards - anything goes - individual game prediction, player injuries (games missed by ______), etc.

Maybe we could take suggestions for categories as the offseason goes on, and finalize during the preseason. I'd be willing to help come up with a scoring system.

Again, sorry if this is already something that you guys do. If so, someone (politely) shut my noob a*s up and close this thread.

yea, what squirrel said. Besides, traffic has slowed a lot since the season ended, not really sure if opening a new forum is worth it. But if it becomes popular, you can ask the Adms to sticky it.

And I thought you have been here longer than a year.

    • One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.
    • I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.” I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.
    • So much crying. Tiresome. All of you should have had enough time to come to terms with the team picking up his 5th year...
