the relevant ones (with some thoughts via twitter from his media teleconference)...

Wide Receiver

1. Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State

2. Kendall Wright, Baylor

3. Michael Floyd, Notre Dame

4. Rueben Randle, LSU

5. Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina

evansilva Mayock on #OklahomaState WR Justin Blackmon: "As long as he runs 4.5s or better ... I don't see any way he could get past No. 7.

Mayock on #Baylor WR Kendall Wright: "I think he'll run a sub-4.4 and probably go in the top-15 picks."

Mayock on #NotreDame WR Michael Floyd: "Cleaned himself up on and off the field. Exceptional (senior) year. He needs to run well."

Mayock says 4 receivers should be drafted in the 1st round: Blackmon, Kendall Wright, Michael Floyd, Rueben Randle. Not Jeffery or Sanu.

Mayock on Mohamed Sanu: "Not sudden, doesn't have great acceleration." Said that like Alshon Jeffery, Sanu does not create separation.

Tackle

1. Matt Kalil, USC

2. Riley Reiff, Iowa

3. Jonathan Martin, Stanford

4. Mike Adams, Ohio State

5. Cordy Glenn, Georgia

@evansilva Mayock doesn't believe #Iowa LT Riley Reiff is a top-10 talent in the draft, but very well could be due to the "value of the position."

Mayock on #Stanford OT Jonathan Martin: "Gifted athletically. Needs to get a little bit stronger but will protect the quarterback."

Mayock on Matt Kalil: "Wonderfully gifted. Great feet, long arms, fits athleticism bill for an All-Pro left tackle." Lacks "core strength."

Interior Offensive Lineman

1. David DeCastro, Stanford

2. Peter Konz, Wisconsin

3. Kevin Zeitler, Wisconsin

4. Amini Silatolu, Midwestern State

5. Kelechi Osemele, Iowa State

Mayock: #Wisconsin OLs Peter Konz & Kevin Zeitler are both "late one to mid two" -round picks. Says interior OL is strength of draft class.

Defensive End

1. Melvin Ingram, South Carolina

2. Quinton Coples, North Carolina

3. Andre Branch, Clemson

4. Whitney Mercilus, Illinois

T-5. Vinny Curry, Marshall

T-5. Nick Perry, USC

evansilva Mayock on #UNC DEQuinton Coples: "I'm not a (fan). I'd be scared to death there because he did not play well or hard as a senior."

Mayock says #Illinois DE Whitney Mercilus is more of a "late one, early two." Draft stock will be helped by weak class of defensive ends.

Mayock on Whitney Mercilus: "Fairly gifted kid. Some natural pass-rush ability. Little bit of a 1-yr wonder. Not stout at point of attack."

Mayock also pulled Zach Brown of #UNC & Vontaze Burfict of #ArizonaSt out of his top-5 linebackers. Replaced by Ronnell Lewis, Sean Spence.

Defensive Tackle

1. Michael Brockers, LSU

2. Jerel Worthy, Michigan State

3. Dontari Poe, Memphis

4. Devon Still, Penn State

T-5. Fletcher Cox, Mississippi St.

T-5. Kendall Reyes, UConn

T-5. Brandon Thompson, Clemson

evansilva Mayock on #LSU DT Michael Brockers: "Potential top-10 pick. He's a really explosive 6'5/300 defensive tackle. Concern is he's a 1-year guy."

evansilva Mayock says #Memphis NT Dontari Poe has Haloti Ngata upside. "He's that big & has that kind of movement skills. But he's so raw it's scary."

Linebacker

1. Courtney Upshaw, Alabama

2. Luke Kuechly, Boston College

3. Dont'a Hightower, Alabama

4. Ronnell Lewis, Oklahoma

5. Sean Spence, Miami (Fla.)

Mayock on Vontaze Burfict: "I'm not a fan at all. I just watched a bunch of his tape the other day. I came away unimpressed."

More Mayock on Vontaze Burfict: "Instincts aren't good, gets enveloped by big bodies, runs around blocks. I don't see first round at all."

Mayock says he just put on Vontaze Burfict's tape, forgetting about off-field & penalties. And Burfict was an unimpressive football player.

Cornerback

1. Morris Claiborne, LSU

2. Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama

3. Janoris Jenkins, North Alabama

4. Trumaine Johnson, Montana

5. Leonard Johnson, Iowa State

evansilva Mayock on Dre Kirkpatrick arrest: "Didn't turn out to be much. I don't think in the world of the NFL .. that it's going to hurt him at all."

Safety

1. Mark Barron, Alabama

2. Harrison Smith, Notre Dame

3. George Iloka, Boise State

4. Markelle Martin, Oklahoma State

5. Phillip Thomas, Syracuse

I asked this in another thread, and someone may have answered it before but I can't recall what thread I asked it in, but what happened to the big DT from Washington that everybody liked so much throughout the season? I think his name was Alameda or something like that?

Edit: Alameda Ta'amu and he is projected to be a 3-4 Nose. Guess he had a dissappointing senior year?

Maybe he saw something in Kirkpatrick on film. Brandt and him both had been saying that Dre might have to go safety at the next level. Hmmmm
mayock was a safety so that might be one area he has a little bit more knowledge.

i think it all depends on if it's a zone defense or not. if it's man, he's better suited for FS. if it's a zone he should be a stud CB.

claiborne at 8 would be simply amazing, but I have a hard time believing it'll happen.

Agreed. In the Rotoworld draft it has Luck, Kalil, Reiff, RG3, Richardson, Tannehill, Coples, which is why Claiborne fell to us.

While it seems highly unlikely, if the QB's and tackles put on a show at the combine and interview well, I could see the teams before us making runs at the three top QB's to make Claiborne fall.

I didn't think that Kaepernick, Ponder, Dalton, Newton, and Gabbert would all go so fast last year, but the draft is crazy sometimes how it works.

i could see that. and i would pee in my pants. i'll be in a public place at that moment, but considering it's a music festival i should fit right in. all i'll have to do is stand there and stare and point at the bright shiny wavy things 3 feet in front of me suspended from glowing armadillos swimming in the air to the music that no one else sees. works every time.

    • Brother, I don't want to drop the amount of rage I have about BY and the fuging Pickett signing....when murray was free, tua was free, lance was about the same cost. But you know during practice when other teammates see and hear the passing for any of them compared to BY, he may cry right then.... It does feel like Dan and Tillis were told "make BY work, by any means". You recall the first plan was to drop 163 million on OGs to protect the little fellow.......then drafting WRs and they even signed his buddy WR this FA period..... I just go back to Dan Morgan wanting instill competition throughout the roster and T-H-A-T is your QB room ??? bloody hell, what a joke and disrespect to the whole roster outside that group....
    • Id drop this in here- I fully believe nearly ALLL the Tmac hate leading up to the draft came from the Panthers..... There was plenty and it was believable, cause many did just that. There was huge questions and about 85% of the huddle took the cheese hate.  I do have this too- Banks has a broken feet and a history of feet/ankle issues. If he didn't, 19 would have been fair landing spot. Of course, but Prince spoke highly of him in a Twitter post....former teammates and all, but he still made the post and I haven't seen other players prince did so for.... Maybe the 51st on banks, but maaaaaannnn big men with broken feet broken its feels like it never ends well. I mean after brain, spine, I think Feet are the career killer leader.  Draft DL feels weak in every way.    Last morsel- there's a weak rumor of Panthers trading for DT Payne out on the vine....(his price I feel kills it, but new contract solves that for trades)....
    • If we go all in and sell out with Bryce as our QB, it will even more entrench the idea that Tepper is at minimum running the QB room for me. Now i could be wrong and Dan really is that confident in Bryce all by himself, but nothing this team has done in the past 3 offseasons leads me to believe that there hasnt been some noise from big T. He's admitted that he walks through the office making his opinion known. To me, Bryce's output has just not generated that kind of confidence that we are playoff worthy other than against the Rams. Against the SB champs, just damn.
