Vontaze Burfict

Keep Pounding

Recommended Posts

For every sack with a loss of 10 yards this guy gets, he will also get a 15 yarder for unnecessary roughness. He is insane and not in a good, Ray Lewis kind of way. He is insane in a bad, crazy woman kind of way. He lacks discipline (which for a linebacker is extremely important). Because of this lack of discipline he is easily fooled, bites on fakes, and generally plays with a lack of overall focus.

i would be interested in him if we do trade down... it would be him or dre kirk for me if we move down then if they were gone decastro. can he play OLB? if not then i wouldnt be willing to pick him since beason has to stay at MLB, but i like the intensity he brings, he just needs to harness it some, i think with beason and rivera can contain him.

I have mixed feelings 50/50. The dude can play the run, hits hard, and has the toughness that I feel we were lacking last year. But then again, the personal fouls and the undisciplined play hurts his stock. I just remember when JR asked Cam what he thought about Suh, and Cam was like "we need more guys like that on our team" makes we wonder if JR was watching some ASU games this year. LOL

As a student at ASU, I can tell you that he's widely known as a headcase. I want no part of that.

Warren Sapp was a headcase, Suh is a headcase, Ronnie Lott was a headcase, Lawerence Taylor was a headcase, Mike Singletary was a headcase, the Iron Curtain was a team of headcases, James Harrison is a headcase, and many more DEF players our headcases, maybe we need a few headcases to improve our DEF.

those players you listed have a lot more talent than burfict has. the growing consensus in him is that he just isn't as good as advertised. it's more than him being a headcase. he's been called a fake tough guy. he's being seen as lazy on and off the field, having poor vision, and a total lack of discipline.

he's just not as good as you think.

I know maybe a bad comparison to the HOF talents that I mentioned, but I'm not sold on him either, I'm like 50/50, I just wanted to know if he was available in the second round, would he be a pick to gamble on.

    • It's a failing of most first time HCs. I get an OC not being a defensive expert but they do play the other side every week so it always amazes me that poop slides so often. First year? Sure but as time goes on they need to be a HC and have a balanced and good team in the end. They went offense for that reason and the QB issues the team had. They had to go WR again this year because they failed so hard last year at that position in the first. That's on both the HC and GM on that miss IMO. This year they went out and got a bunch of free agents and drafted more on the D. It just doesn't appear they did it well again. Add in keeping Evero and missing out on an expensive free agent, thankfully but it would have lessened the cap gap in spending, it's not like they didn't try. It's more of an issue of competency than cap. Building around Evero after last year is damning for thr GM and HC. That's the biggest issue. They just didn't do any of it well. Now they have some younger talent and I don't think there is a decent coach in that house.
    • Inside linebacker is basically non existent. And that goes against everything that has been Carolina Panthers for a couple decades now. And that is just one such area that has suffered as we have paid through the nose to build up our offense around a bad investment.
    • Thats why its going to suck spending another top 10 pick on a qb instead of an elite Lb, pass rusher or whatever.  but it what it is and you have to have a qb to win in this league
