If we take Luke Kuechly who plays MLB?

I really like this guy.He may not address our most glaring need but I feel there is something special about this guy.....his intangibles point to an over achiever who I feel is worthy of consideration. To bad your nose for the ball cannot be measured at the combine.

Rip me about this guy and eat your words in a couple of years http://www.derp/2012/3/2/2838294/past-and-present-luke-kuechly-vs-dan-morgan

Then he will need to get much better in pass coverage

That's one of his strongsuits, he plays well in Man to man and in zone against TE's and slot WR's. He showed this consistently while at BC.

Aaron Curry v2.0

You don't draft a great tackler in the Top 10.

He's not just a great tackler, he's really good in coverage and excellent between the trenches against the run. His athleticism will allow him to learn how to blitz the QB easily.

He's got sky high intelligence, football instincts, plenty of strength, speed and athleticism that he isn't Aaron Curry 2.0, not even close to it.

I'd take him happily if we could manage to trade back.

His combine plus his game tape has put him into the top 15. So trading back isn't going to cut it. There's a few teams between 11 and 15 that will take him and I doubt he falls past the Eagles.

I agree with you however I do not think he will be the BPA when we pick. If we take him, I will be behind him though.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
