Is Melvin Ingram the BDPA at #9?

I've been thinking so much lately about our 9th pick and basically narrowed it down to the fact that if unless Claiborne is available, then we need to select the next best defensive player available. Some could argue Kuechly, who I definitely wouldn't mind, but Ingram seems to be the most versatile, gifted defensive linemen worth a top 10 selection.

Coples, has what it takes to be great, but does he want to? do we want to invest in that? and is he even going to be available?

Brockers, tons of potential, but also tons of question marks. I need more proof that he deserves to be a top 10 pick.

Fletcher Cox, my favorite DT, but is he really worth the 9th pick? Maybe in a trade back in which we landed additional picks.

Dontari Poe, His combine hype as turned him into the Panthers first pick in many users mock drafts. I don't think he warrants a top 10 pick, much like the reference to Brockers.

Ingram can play defensive end, outside linebacker, defensive tackle. His speed and strength make him a very scary player in the pass rush, which happens to be our #1 need.

Did not mention Dre "Swag" Kirkpatrick. Pick makes sense. Can't look past it. If Ingram or Coples is not the pick he very well could be.

I've been reppin Dre for a long while now, most users just hate on him though because they feel he lacks the ability to play man in the NFL.

After a lot of thought though, Its starting to look like first round DL> second round DL. and 2nd round CB's> first round CB's besides Claiborne.

No, BDPA is trade down and pick up a 3rd round or late 2nd. Lots of good WRs in this draft, and plus we could get dontari later in the 1st. Great combine =/= great player, but a big man that quick has lots of potential. Get dontari later 1st, maybe someone like janoris jenkins early 2d, maybe tommy streeter late 2d/early 3d, then go for depth and/or speed.

Fua and McClain have only had a year - while they're not showing a lot, having Ron Edwards back will help, and Beason will help even more. Draft has a lot of athletes this year, but it's going to be hard to find value if you only concentrate on one side of the ball.

It's not that he can't play man coverage, it's just that he is not as good as Jenkins or even Claiborne. I don't hate on him, like his potential. Just don't understand why people think he is better than Jenkins.

I personally think a pairing of Jenkins and Reyes > Ingram and Gilmore

not no more!

CB Kirkpatick is, after the VJax addition to the bucs.

Makes sense because of his size but I'd still choose Jenkins over Kirkpatrick if I wanted to contain any particular WR.

Not a good comparison..

It really isn't. I see Ingram more of a DE/DT than a DE/OLB. I don't thin DT or OLB would be his forte but just an added bonus. He can move inside on passing downs.

I think Ingram could be very good and it's not really his size that I'm afraid of, but the only DE I'd be interested in at #9 is Coples. If Hurnivera think he's more Peppers in the head than in the talent I'd rather have Brockers or Poe than any DE at #9.

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
