Drew Brees on the Tonight Show

I just think all teams do it....what's the difference between that and going after the injured ankle of a player to get him out of a game? All players do that and it's accepted. That's why teams will tape up both ankles of a player to try and mask which is the injured one.

I know times have changed and with player safety such a hot topic something has to be done. No argument there but...

I guess just reading some of the threads around here and the unhealthy obsession a handful of people have with it (and all things Saints I guess) makes it seem like it is the biggest scandal in NFL history. I haven't been watching much Sportscenter in the last month or two so all I have to go on is what I see here but it is almost as if Gregg Williams and Co. nailed Christ back to the cross. (My apologizes to those offended by my distasteful reference).

So when you have a kid, and he ends up playing college ball, and the other team intentionally hits him late for the sole purpose of injuring him and getting him carted off the field, and your son shatters his leg and his college career as a player is done, will you say, "Sorry, kiddo, that's football"?

And of course other teams do it. The difference is, the Saints got caught. When you get caught, you get punished.

Not trying to be a smarta** with this comment, but I would like to hear your opinion on this matter if the story had been leaked that the Cowboy's and Giants were participating in what is alledged on the saints.

I believe the biggest reason Panther fans are reacting this way is that it has the potential to hurt a rival of ours that, for lack of better words, has had thier way with us (and the NFC for that matter) over the last couple years.

not saying I am ok with it Salty...I'm just saying I'm pretty sure it happens everywhere...maybe just between groups, or buddies or whatever.

Yeah, but the "buddies" here range from your GM to the towel boy.

That's bad. Really really bad.

Fair question and I honestly wouldn't care. I know for a fact that the Eagles have done it so I don't care if other teams do it. If it is a clean hit then so be it. It would be different if they were offering $50K bonuses but with the little amount of money that is like me and a buddy betting a $1 per hole on the golf course.

Well college kids aren't getting paid (I actually typed that with a straight face) so that is totally different. I think the goal of every defensive football player is to hit the opposing player as hard as possible and to knock him into the next zip code regardless if they are getting anoth $1K or not.

As an Eagles fan and I know that everytime Vick stepped on the field with his cracked ribs that teams were gunning for them each and every opportunity to get him out of the game. No one tries to hide that, it's part of the game. What is the difference in that and basically doing the same thing for what equals out to a free dinner for an NFL player? I'm not arguing that the organization was wrong and shouldn't be paying out for stuff like that but I just don't see the big deal.

I've got no problem with money for picks, ff, sacks, even big hits. But putting up money for injuries is just sick, not only on a football level, but a human level.

i think money for big hits is not acceptable as it would get out of hand. Football is a violent sport but the violence needs to be tied to the #1 goal of winning the game. Money for big hits means the #1 goal of violence is to be violent for money. It wouldn't work.

I wouldn't mind rewards for big plays but rewards for injuries??? Give me a break. This is a game. It just shows how pathetic that whole organization is. What a bunch of scumbags. I hope Brees leaves and takes Sproles and Kasay with him.
