Tebow Trade Offical: Now A Ny Jet

Joe Namath offered scathing criticism of the New York Jets' decision to go after quarterbackThe Golden Calf of Bristol as a backup for recently extended starter Mark Sanchez.

"I do not agree with this situation," Namath said. "I can't agree with it. I just think it's a publicity stunt. I really think it's wrong. I can't go for it."

Namath spoke to Michael Kay and Don La Greca on ESPN New York 1050 on Wednesday while the Jets and Broncos were trying to work through a snag in the proposed trade. Kay asked Namath if he hoped the deal would ultimately fall through.

"Absolutely!" the Hall of Fame quarterback said. "And I'm a The Golden Calf of Bristol fan! But I'm a bigger Jet fan than I am a The Golden Calf of Bristol fan."

Namath said he thought bringing The Golden Calf of Bristol in wasn't best for the franchise, in particular Sanchez. Clearly, The Golden Calf of Bristol's popularity would rival the current starter's, and add pressure that Sanchez wasn't expecting.

"I don't think they know what they're doing over there right now," Namath said. "They give Sanchez a new contract, they pat him on the back and then they bring in two more quarterbacks."

The Jets' attempt to acquire The Golden Calf of Bristol came less than week after they signed Drew Stanton to be Sanchez's backup.

I wouldn't be surprised if The Golden Calf of Bristol chooses NY. He wants to talk about his faith to everyone, what bigger stage is there than the Big Apple? This is getting good.

God NO...There are enough zealots in this city. NY don't need one with a built-in rabid fan base who is going to demand that he plays and never comes out of a game no matter how bad he is.

Denver says it will do the trade that is best for its franchise. Jets or Jags.

I'm sure those in the media who chose Blaine as an NFL ready QB, would prefer seeing Tim go to NY where they can start firing up his fanbase to get Sanchez out of games since he's not one of their chosen QBs. I don't think they want Tim's followers chanting for Tim to enter a game as soon as Blaine messes up cause they know Blaine will never get his job back.

We all know Tim will ever earn a starting job. Let's be real.

    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
