that we're gonna draft a DT, the Huddle, mock drafts, etc, I don't think we will. We just drafted two DT's last year and signed one vet DT. After those three, we still have Neblett, Kearse, Shirley and Nwagbo (if I spelled that right). I just don't see investing another high draft pick in another DT. We've appeared to have concentrated on ST through FA so I believe that we will sure up other areas through the draft, but not DT.

It depends who's on the board. If Fletcher Cox or Poe is the best player and nobody is calling to offer much, just take them. DTs take time to develop, and I'm fine with McClain and Fua struggling their first year, but it's not like anybody was very good for us last year. We just had a bunch of guys play at about the same level which was pretty bad.

Yeah, I've tried to follow CB this draft and intially followed Kirk but JJ has gained a lotta of ground and has had far more positive reveiws. I just don't want another short corner...

short corner? They're usually always short. The top CB prospect in this draft is only an inch taller than Jenkins.

Janoris Jenkins - 5'10"

Morris Claiborne - 5'11"

Patrick Peterson - 6'1"

Prince Amukamara - 6'0"

Joe Haden - 5'11"

Kareem Jackson - 5'10"

Asante Samuel - 5'10"

Malcolm Jenkins - 6'0"

Leodis Mckelvin - 5'10"

Aaron Ross - 6'0"

Darrelle Revis - 5'11"

Leon Hall - 5'11"

I think we will go Defensive side for sure, just not sure which position. Coples, Cox (which can play DE and DT) and Kuchely (sp?) are who I think they will be looking at. Unless someone falls or we trade out of that place. I expect one of those three. The other guy would be Kirkpatrick, if we reach for him, but I can't warrant reaching for him.

great, we've established that we have players there. a bunch of mid-late round rookies and journeymen backups.

that's not going to convince anybody that DT isn't a big problem

Why not give our young DTs time to develop before calling bust? It's not like drafting a DT in the first round means it going to be an instant fix. I'd be more comfortable with a FA DT and a DT in the second round or later.

Why not give Clausen time to develop?

Because he sucks and the draft offers upgrades.

Fua was the DT equivalent of Clausen last year.

No OTA's

No time with trainers and the NFL strength training program

Entirely shortened offseason

You actually expect 3rd DT's to play like seasoned vets?

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
