Panthers trade for the 43rd pick from the 49ers and select....

I ain't sold on a a guy who was predicted to go in the first round and just droped to the mid second round without another team even touching him. I know for a fact if Brown is good as people and mags are predicting him to be. Then I am shocked that detroit passed over him. Detroit had the worst defense last year. If brown is worth a first rounder lions would od picked him straight off the bat. But the fact is these teams are not convince he will be a good DE. But who knows. But trading our first round next year which by the way next year will be a strong QB class next year. Panthers FO just gave up our 1st next year for second round pick to get a guy who was surppose to go in the 1st this year but didn't There is something not right bout this. A unproven 2rd pick DE for out first next year. Good Deal. Not.

Their teams didnt give away a first round pick to grab them. I could understand packaging this years picks to move up to send next years first round pick is stupid. Even if the guy was projected to go around 15. The other teams seen something wrong with him.

i kinda get it, we traded next years first because were going to get it back when we trade peppers.

so how in the hell does our first round pick have such little value when we traded a 1st, a 2nd, and a 4th to the Eagles for theirs?

i dont man it seems like hurney likes to play the nice guy with other teams in the league, when he really should be trying to take them to the cleaners.

Did you children not research the draft at all? We just picked the best available player at the position we need the most help at and people are complaining? And most of these people are the same ones excited as hell at the prospect of Jake Delhomme being here until 2013?

Come on kids. Everette Brown is the real deal. We just got a lot better today.

At this point I doubt Peppers will be traded until after next season. I don't think Brown is going to be ready to start from day one this season anyways.

pep will walk after this season. we can't afford to tag him again.

29 other teams disagree with you.

That's exactly what I said. We picked the best available player at one of the positions we need the most help at.

I don't even mind that we gave up next year's first, as he was projected by many to go in the middle of the first anyway. Given our front office's propensity for picking quality players early in the draft, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Just because others at his position were picked before him and teams passed on him does not mean this guy won't be a great player. How many teams passed over Steve Smith when looking for a receiver?

I'm happy about this deal.

Those teams whose judgment you're touting as so much better than ours must have also seen something wrong with that quarterback that went at pick 44, seeing as they all bypassed him too.

(guy must suck, I guess) :D

Big Difference White was Projected late 2nd. Brown was Projected 15th. Miami knew New Englanded wanted White so they jumped up and grabbed him.

    • Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
    • I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.
    • Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
