Panthers Mull Option At Cb

Stupid hypothetical.

The difference is that a research study of NFL players coming back from achilles injuries show a 95% decrease in effectiveness by linebackers when they try and come back from achilles surgery. Secondly Davis is trying to be the first player ever to come back 3 times ACL surgery. Any of your other hypotheticals coming off major surgery.

Problem for me is what you think is a hypothetical, I think is a probablity. Sad to even think it but 1 if not both of them will be shells of their former self this season.

If Smith goes down are comfortable with Lafell and Gettis? If Jordan Gross goes down are you okay with Lee Ziemba and Campbell? If Kalil goes down are you okay with Hangartner? If Chris Gamble goes down are you okay with Captain Munnerlyn? If Cam goes down are you okay with Anderson and Clausen?

We will be picking first next year under that scenero

It’s part of the reason sources say they wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers poke around the thinning free-agent market at corner to see what kind of bargains are available.

I'd like to know what sources these are. I wouldn't mind bringing ins William Middleton, if he's not signed with anyone yet that is.

Demeco Ryans played all last year just fine, Beason has been pretty much given an entire year to rehab and train. Maybe we should consider draft a tackle in the 1st based on Otah's knees and the fact Gross won't be playing for much longer?

Yeah he played so well that they traded their probowl linebacker to Philly for a 4th rounder. You can say it was scheme but all the other linebackers made the transition just fine. The reality is they said he was essentially a 2 down back and wasn't mobile enough to defend the pass after his injury. That is precisely what happens when guys lose their quickness and explosiveness.

If Kalil fell to us we would pick him in a New York minute.

Another year and another round of people wanting players that we dont need.

I say we draft a Punter in the first because we dont have one. Look at all the stats the Punter is one of the most important positions in football and we will never win games if we dont have one of the best in this years draft.

Also we need to draft RB in the second cause we know how Dwills injury history is and then WR in the 3rd cause Gettis is no promise and Smith is just getting old.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
