Cam's Leadership

Rivera stated that Cam had matured and was ready to take on more of a leadership role. Well as an Auburn Tiger let me say that Cameron Newton is not only a great, great athlete, he is a as good a leader as he is an athlete.

It was no accident that Auburn won the National Championship in 2010. We had very good players on this team with a lot of experience. The O-Line had almost 4 years of experience each. The receivers headed by Darvin Adams (also on the Panthers squad) and Emory Blake, coupled with Nick Fairley, two very good linebackers, and a speedy guy named Ontario McCalleb, made this team ready to make a run. However, we had two major problems. (1) No real proven QB and (2) leadership issues.

Enter Mr. Cameron Newton. Not only did we AU fans see what all the fuss was about from his High School and Jr. College days on the field, AU fans witnessed first hand what the excitement was about in the man. From the interviews he gave, to the obvious commitment in his character and demeanor, to his indefatigable drive that he exhibited everyday on campus, you knew there was something super special about this guy. Watch as a towering figure of chiseled athletic specimen strode down the lines during Tiger Walk (which is always special), and you knew you were a part of something magical. Watch the demeanor of Cam Newton and his ability to hold his tongue and emotions in check during the media lynching he certainly did not deserve, and you can readily see an energy and emotion that was as contagious as an outbreak of swine flu.

Cam not only led the 2010 Auburn team on the field, he led them in practices and in the locker room, His unwavering desire to win was awe inspiring. His winsome personality and wide grin smile charmed everyone associated with the Auburn Program. His excitement and exuberance was mesmerizing. His never say die attitude infectious. The Auburn team as well as the fans fed off of the Cam phenomenon. The results speak for themselves.

The Carolina Panthers in obtaining the service of one Cameron Newton, not only got one of the top athletes in the country, they also got one heck of a motivator and human being. Cam was not just great on the field and on the campus at Auburn, he took it father than that. Just ask the middle school students of a certain middle grade school in Auburn. They will tell you what an inspiration Cameron Newton is, as well as 100,000 plus Auburn fans and former coaches and teammates. Be glad Panthers. Very glad.. Cam is going to pay dividends not only on the field and in infecting the team with believing, he is going to infect your fan base and community as well.

WAR EAGLE and GO PANTHERS..

P.S. Strongly suggest that you guys start a campaign to draft All SEC Emory Blake, WR from AU after this season. If you wanna know why, watch Cam and Emory together in 2010, when Blake was only a sophomore. All SEC Phillip Lutzenkirchen (as talented a tight end as you will see), is also someone you guys should have on your radar.. With Steve Smith, Darvin Adams as a clutch reciever, Emory Blake, and Lutz, Cam would have so many weapons (and a previous chemistry), that it would be scarry..

This is a good point and it was overlooked by many during the analysis of Cam's character and maturity. Imagine how hard it would be to sit there and say nothing while you and your family were being attacked by the media from every possible angle. To be able to stay focused and avoid lashing out in response is an amazing feat.

Good reason to draft Emory Blake, but I have one that's even better. He is the son of quarterback Jeff Blake who played 13 years on the NFL. Emory was his Dad's number 1 receiver from the time he was old enough to run a route. I've seen Emory say in interviews that he never wanted to play quarterback. He always wanted to be on the receiving end of the ball.

Quote from Jeff Blake

His dad taught Emory the game, as had his father, who was a running back in the Canadian Football League and his high school coach.

"I did my best to teach him coverages and blitzes; the secondary and the positioning coming off the ball," said Jeff Blake. "It was fundamental stuff we went over and over and over again. He did a

great job of wanting to do that, and wanting to train and work. He has that 'want.'"

He was hurt part of last year but was able to play in the bowl game and made a huge difference. He's going make an impact on some NFL team and I hope it's as a Panther.

I enjoyed most of the post. Here are some problems I found:

He says he's a player, but then says "we fans"

And then there's the whole trying to turn the Panthers into the Auburn Tigers.

Call me crazy, but I think Lafell, Gettis, Pilares, and whomever we draft this year will be sufficient at WR.

But I liked your post OP. very nice to get an outside opinion from someone who doesn't know much about the Panthers.
