Reed: Meeks/Brown could be match made in Heaven.

Meeks, who replaced Mike Trgovac this off-season, helped develop Robert Mathis (6-2, 245) and Dwight Freeney (6-1, 268) into star NFL defensive ends while in Indianapolis. Like Mathis, Brown is considered a little undersized for a 4-3 defensive end, coming to Carolina with a 6-foot-2, 256-pound frame, although the team believes he can add size and muscle mass.

Freeney has 70.5 sacks in eight seasons with the Colts and has been to four Pro Bowls. Mathis, who lines up opposite him at left end, had 53.5 sacks in six seasons.

"It's encouraging," Brown said. "That's one of the things I looked at when I looked at teams coming out. I looked at coaches and I’d see what kind of style they want, what is their philosophy and what kind of players they want to bring in.

“Definitely coach Meeks in Indianapolis, his guys knew how to get after the passer. They weren't the biggest guys, but you turn on the film they were 100 miles per hour until the echo of the whistle. That's the way I played at Florida State and that is the way I'm going to continue to play. I think I've walked into the best possible situation for me."

What else I like is that Brown seems to know a bit about Meeks' past, which means he might be a football junkie. I like that in a player. It isn't NECESSARY to have that to be great (see guys like Curtis Martin), but I like it.

orrrrrrrr you could be donovan mcnabb and not even know the overtime rules

Let's just slow down and be reasonable for a moment...

We've gotten a glimspe of John Fox's loyalty screwups in the past...and offensively last year he finally broke the mold in getting Otah/Stewart into the mix immediately. How many years were were tormented with watching Morgan make yet another attempt to come back...paid insane money...while letting Spoon go off and be a stud for another team. Deshaun Foster...another example. Hampton. Goings. Like someone said...hopefully this new D-coordinator shakes things up and is willing to try stuff out like our O-coordinator did last year with the rooks.

Morgan was never paid insane money.

Morgan was never paid insane money.

Up until the final contract that was a pay/play kind of contract...if you look at time spent letting brain heal vs. what he was paid. Money was thrown away that could've been used to just keep Spoon.

Said all along MEEKS is the key to this season and why Peppers is still hanging around

Meeks can be another Del Rio

Take controll of the Defense

And like the Colts , Panthers are a little weak at D T

So Meeks should feel right at home

But unlike the Colts

Panthers have better talent at most of the other positions

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
