Final Scp Mock

My final mock...

1st: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State

With all the talk of the Vikings passing on Matt Kalil and the Rams possibly taking Cox, I have a feeling the top-8 may turn out a lot different than we have expected all along. That could mean someone like Justin Blackmon slipping to us and if so he's the no-brainer pick based on value alone. However, the safe bet still remains Cox being there and being the pick. There's also a very good chance we take Stephon Gilmore, but to be honest I'm not a huge fan of his so I'm sticking with 'the penetrator.'

2nd: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

I think there's at least a 60/40 chance Jenkins slips this far and if he does we HAVE to take him - unless of course we take Gilmore in the 1st. This is another reason why I'd rather not do that as I think there's a very solid chance we can get the best cover corner in the draft here.

4th: Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas

If for no other reason than his return ability Joe Adams would be a great pick. We've made upgrading the special teams a big priority this offseason and I expect we'll look to add an impact return guy and a top punter via the draft. Adams is that impact return guy and is a pretty good receiver with good upside as well.

5th: Bryan Anger, P, California

The recent article about Rivera playing with Drew Butler's dad would seem to indicate we're taking him if we take any punter, but honestly Anger is quite a bit better. His punts get much more hangtime and, again, we've gone out of our way to upgrade the special teams and Anger's booming punts can continue that. He's the best punter in the draft and guaranteed to be drafted; if you don't believe me, just ask him.

6th: Demario Davis, OLB, Arkansas State

We obviously need depth at linebacker and since I opted to upgrade the special teams with the previous two picks I'll go with the best available one here. I like Terrell Manning a lot, but he won't be there this late. Some would prefer taking him in the 4th or 5th and getting a punter here, but TBH I think Anger is an elite punter in the league inside of 2 years and would rather have him.

6th (Comp.): Jamie Blatnick, DE, Oklahoma State

A late round flyer on a pass rusher with some upside. Granted, this could be any number of other guys, I went with Blatnick.

7th: Blake DeChristopher, OT/OG, Virginia Tech

We almost always take at least one late round flyer on a good OL prospect. Who knows, maybe one day we'll hit a home run and get a solid starter with one of them.

I'll be surprised if they don't trade that pick. The Pats always trade down. But yeah, it's entirely possible he won't be there. Just saying if he is, we have to take him. I think a lot of teams will put a lot of emphasis on his off-field issues. The Pats are definitely one team that may think it can handle him, but I do think there's a good chance - maybe not a great one, but a good one - that he's available at our 2nd round pick.

    • Yeah lol well the interest isn’t really about seeking stimulation.  I wanted to see how actually bad it was.  And how much of it was women setting him up to be their cash cow.  That is the stuff that leveraged the Panthers into David Tepper’s hands. It is important in that sense.     The worst that I have heard is that he got them in the car and clumsily reached across to help them with their seat belt and made contact. With his arm. That was probably his big slick move. And I can almost guarantee he wasn’t rejected every time. It is easy to picture that action bringing his head close enough to the woman’s head to where he could go in for the kiss if he thought he got the green light.    I really don’t care if JR was a horn dog. We heard all our lives up until the last few years that one of the perks of being really old is that you can flirt with the young women and it is not just tolerated but expected. So he was keeping a tradition alive at some point 😂
    • Well I rubbed some dirt on it and am still here just not optimistic about the future of the QB position. Even what I had accepted as a ceiling raised to an acceptable level turned out to be a bit of a mirage, upon rewatch of the WC game.  Good plays were there yes, but some pretty bad ones too that the good ones late in the game kind of obscured. I have to downgrade that a little.  Especially after rewatching the last 4 plays. I remember the arguments about he did his job the WRs didn’t but that was really just that last muff by Coker I think it was on our final offensive play.   To the future: I know what my level is for paying him and recommitting, but I don’t have any confidence that the team shares my high bar.    But thanks for the pep talk
