Could Courtney Upshaw Fit On This Roster?

Upshaw fell yesterday in the draft and there is a chance he could fall to the Panthers. He was a stud at Bama playing DE/OLB. I think I like him better as a DE. If he fell to the Panthers tonight do we pull the trigger and land him in the NFC South. How would he fit on this team?

He is a tweener.....and does not have the speed and explosiveness that many scouts originally thought he did.

Much bigger needs and better fits in the 2nd that him.

I understand that. He was a very productive player at Bama and he made a lot of plays on that defense. He could be a steal in round 2.

He wouldn't be a horrible pick, but there will be better players available at positions of need. (DT/CB)

I agree with you and this is coming from an Auburn fan. I've watched him play a lot and he always goes full speed. He has a little bit of a nasty attitude but that's okay as long as it;s kept within the rules.

He is definitely a good player, but you need to assess need and fit as well.

There are better fits and players for us at 40 than him.

Courtney Upshaw is the exact same size as Charles Johnson, 6'2" 270lbs. Could be an interesting pick. I do like Vinny Curry more. That being said, I think if Janoris Jenkins is on the board, we probably take him.

If Upshaw is still there at pick #40 we may very well see if Hurney does a BPA and picks him up. OT Glenn out of GA would be a good pickup if he falls that far because he could play OT or OG on the left or right side.

I like Upshaw much better than Curry and as one poster pointed out he's virtually the same size and weight as Charles Johnson and Vinny Curry for that matter. Upshaw just has that "I'm a football player" swag and knows how to get after the quarterback. He's what they call nasty.
