My Case For Brandon Thompson Dt

Let's look at all the Clemson defensive players in the NFL right now... Chris Clemons, Ricky Sapp, Kavell Conner, Jamie Cumbie, Marcus Gilchrist, Maurice Fountain, Jarvis Jenkins, Da'Quan Bowers, Crezdon Butler, Nick Eason, Darell Scott, Leroy Hill, and Byron Maxwell. Sorry if I don't like him based on the track record of the garbage that Clemson has produced before him.

It doesn't matter about players from decades ago because the coach of Clemson has changed since then. Whoever coaches the Clemson defense now does not produce good NFL players.

Before cam how many pro bowl qbs from auburn?

Your argument If we call it that has precious little substance.

A somewhat valid opinion but Clemson has not had the same defense coaches the last 20 years. If you want to say Richard Steel doesn't produce good NFL linemen, then fine. At least watch the guy play before deciding on a player based solely on what school he went to.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Not necessarily Clemson but the defensive coordinator. I didn't feel like looking him up lol

Yeah I don't think that's the best of arguments. You have to judge the player as a stand-alone product.

I like him but like Worhty better. Wouldn't be upset if we traded down in the 2nd and acquired him but not at 40 with better players available.

This is the most ignorant argument that can be made, the college that a player attended does not define him as a pro. Determined players with talent can succeed no matter where they came from. Sure there may be handicaps that were in college like level of competition and shitty coaching, but talent is talent and your college coaches do not follow you to the league.

    • We have without question one of the worst QB rooms in the league and your key concern is people having the audacity to be talking about it lol.
    • I saw this list crossing the screen waiting for any Panther.  Chubba, JC Horn and Hunt.  It was a crime to see so many that were not as good as these three.  ESPN is garbage anyhow.
    • Bingo!  We are on the same page.  Our scouting department was average under Hurney, but at least we hit hit it out of the park with our first rounders.  Our scouting department under Tepper's reign with his revolving doors of HCs and GMs has sucked because the scouts largely stay in place.  One or two may change every few years, but the core philosophy stays in place and I believe that to be heavily RAS influenced.    Looking the part of a football player (physical/athletic measurables) vastly outweighs putting on the tape and deep diving into his stats with our scouting department. Until we change that mindset, this team is doomed. Again, how many of us Huddlers (none of us are professional scouts) wanted McConkey over Legette? Yet, we went with XL.  Why?  RAS score, pure and simple.  If you put on the tape and look at the numbers without taking RAS into account, McConkey was the clear choice.
