Well the thing is, he had a great opportunity to prove himself on the Colts practice squad last year but if he couldn't find a home with the Colts piss poor quarterback's last year, I don't know if he could find one here.

Now I still believe he is practice squad eligible and could see him finding a home on the Panthers practice squad.

It depends. The Colts also don't really use mobile QB's either. Luck is the first one they've had in god knows how long and the only reason they ended up with him is because he was also the best pocket passer available also. It could be that his skills pertain more to throwing on the run , or rolling out etc. It could be he needs a team where they are attempting to try the college stuff like zone reads and what not like Denver and Carolina.

I don't think we need a "scrambling QB" or a "similar QB" as his backup. If Cam goes down it won't be a small event; it will be dramatic. I don't think you can replace him anyway. Just get a good QB to take his place whether or not the QB can do the same things. I don't think you can expect a backup to come in and play the same format and at the same level - I would merely expect them to be servicable.
