Seems to me that the advantage of posting in a forum where you have to have 5000 posts before you can contribute is that you automatically keep the new trolls and newbies out of the conversation. Interestingly though, no threads of any substance have even been attempted. So let me get the party started with a few questions.

It is early of course but lets make a few predictions. In a few months we can look back and see who actually knows what they are talking about,

Which of our DTs which start at the undertackle assuming Edwards starts at the nose.

Does Martin start at FS or will one of the new guys take over??

Who is listed starter at tailback? Stewart or Williams??

Regarding the schemes.....

Will we come out in the pistol formation and continue what we did last year or was that a function of doing the best we could with no off-season and installing on the run? In other words with more time to develop and implement the scheme will we try more traditional pocket passing, or continue the spread option scheme we ran last year which is what opponents will be preparing for. Or we will do something new like run a triple option or something else?? Isn't Chud a master innovator?? How many times will be put Tolbert, Williams, and Stewart in the backfield at the same time??

Last year we ran mostly a cover 2 bland scheme on defense. Obviously this year will be different and with everyone coming back we should be better. But will be go with a more attacking style with mostly man coverage or a fire zone coverage? Will we blitz on just about every play or only occasionally. Will we use more misdirection with the line or mostly count on blitzes from the linebackers to get pressure?

What are the opinions about what we will do from those who have been around a while?????

My opinion???

Neblett will start at undertackle

Nakamura will be free safety

Williams will start at tailback but Stewart will play as much or more than Williams.

They will line up all three backs on 20% of running plays and rarely on passing plays.

We will use a primary man coverage system and use zone on blitzing downs. We will blitz someone on most downs.

We will use a spread option system most of the time. We will use more 3 and 4 wide sets with an empty backfield more often this year given Newton's better defensive reading of the secondary.

Although I never comment on it, been doing this since the beginning of the Huddle. Most have no freaking clue as to what they are talking about, and no one can truely predict what will happen. What's funny is when a person guesses right on one prediction, they think they are the next Nostradamus. As the old saying goes, even a blind squirrel...

My biggest concern: If our offense is extremly productive again, our offensive coordinator will be offered a head coaching job somewhere next season. The Panthers have always had a mediocre offense at best. It's really exciting to see an exciting and productive offense. And with Cam's talent, we need one. Without our OC, or one just as talented and creative, not only will this team be taking a step backwards, but it would also hinder Cam's development and limit his potential derived from his talent.

My opinion anyway.

I'm really not good at this but I wanted to offer my opinion.

As for DT, I have no idea.

I see Martin starting at FS.

I agree that Williams will start and he will be about 50/50 with Stewart.

The other two concerns? I have no idea.

I actually find the RB situation the most interesting. I am going to assume they are going to be catching a few passes as well and it makes me wonder if they will put someone in there for that purpose on certain plays or if they trust our RB's equally.

Just for reference I'm really bad at any real football talk.

What I wonder is whether Chud will install a bunch of new things this year to avoid teams being able to gameplan against what we did last year since they will be watching film. He really had to install the offense on the fly and had to cater things to Cam's level of understanding with no offseason. The hope is that he can be even more creative this year given they have more time to install the offense and players have a better understanding of what he wants to do.

As for getting a head coach job, it is hard to say. He really may be a great OC but that doesn't instantly make him a good head coach.

I'm sure Chud will have some new wrinkles. The good thing is opposing defenses will have to game plan for all the things the Panthers did successfully last year when they doubled their point production from 2010. Add in the new wrinkles plus do everything they did last year even better and we'll be giving opposing Defensive Coordinators ulcers every week.

I suspect at times the numbers wont be as impressive as 2011 due to protecting Cam and using our 3 headed running attack. Plus our defense should do a better job holding onto leads and we wont be scrambling to win.

Might not look as pretty, but the win column should look better this year. Bottom line, just win baby.

I didn't realize that asking the supposed huddle elders to actually talk football would be so difficult or apparently boring. I guess I was mistaken when I thought this was a football forum. If I wanted a popular thread I need boob pictures

      WR: Nico, Woods, Tank (R) TE: Schultz OL: Tunsil/Howard/Deiter/Mason/Fant vs. WR: Chark, Thielen, Mingo (R) TE: Hurst OL: Icky/Zavala (R)/Bozeman/Jensen (R)/Moton   Panthers' had the better OL before losing BC week 1 and AC week 4 which is kind of ironic considering how in the following year DB went down in W1 and Shaq in W4 resulting in the defense going all to Hell. CJ has done amazing in Houston, but he also wasn't asked to carry Zavala, Jensen, Mingo, Hurst, and Chark as a rookie.

      Past 5 seasons, IMO CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow are the 2 best young QBs that have emerged in the league in that window.  They also didn’t need vets to be their primary pass catchers.  They helped fellow youngsters be great at WR.   almost all the other young QBs have been paired up with vets in their top options….and haven’t been as promising.  so it isn’t Madden.  But the league hasn’t played out as you suggest it does.   Good QBs make others around them better.

      In 2023 their roster wasn’t stacked. They nailed the poo out of the 2023 draft and since they knew Davis Mills wasn’t the guy, they tanked properly to get pick 2. They also took Cleveland’s ridiculous offer for Watson unlike us with Burns. Houston received enough draft capital to jump up to 3 while picking up the right guys in Anderson and Stroud. The Texans were not stacked or better than us in 2023. They had 11 total wins from 2020 to 2022. They didn’t have a terrible front office so they made sure they got their QB of the future while tanking well and getting more draft picks. They are a textbook study of what we should have done in 2022/2023 offseason even though people in here still think tanking is a bad word and our culture would be bad if we were the Texans. We literally had the chance to be the Texans right now and fuged it up.
